Tallinna Linnakantselei arenguteenistus 3 In 2011 the statistical yearbook Tallinn in Figures is published for the 19th time. Breakdown of topics is the same as in previous years. In order to follow the principle of time and space, as well as vertical and horizontal analysis the presentation of data by topics is similar to that of the yearbooks 2007– 2010: indicators of Tallinn for the past five years, relevant indicators of Estonia, also, because of urban sprawl, comparative data of Harju County on certain topics have been presented. Selection of topics and tables of the yearbook is based on the following principles and needs: • drafting and monitoring of Tallinn, city district, sectorial development plans and strategies; • drafting yearbooks and reports of Tallinn, as well as different analytical overviews; • introducing Tallinn as the capital of Estonia; • participation of Tallinn in various international conferences and competitions, drafting of relevant presentations; • possibility to respond immediately to over 50 enquiries about different socio-economic issues made annually. Iluuisutamise EMil Tallinnas osales 38 riiki ja 180 parimat Euroopa iluuisutajat. Teleülekannete vahendusel sai võistlusi jälgida 300 miljonit televaatajat. Head, isegi täiuslikku korraldust kiitis ka Rahvusvaheline Uisuliit. Inimesed on sõbralikud ja ajagraafik peab, nii et isegi külm ilm enam ei sega, rääkis Peter Krick Rahvusvahelisest Uisuliidust. Eesti iluuisutajatest sai parima, 10 koha Jelena Glebova. • 22.–23. aprillil 2010 toimus Tallinnas NATO välisministrite mitteametlik kohtumine NATO peasekretäri Anders Fogh Rasmusseni eesistumisel. Kohtumisest võttis osa USA riigisekretär Hillary Clinton. Põhiteemad: tuumarelvad Euroopas ja tuumaheidutus, koostöö Venemaaga ja tuumadesarmeerimine, NATO rahutagamismissioon (ISAF) Afganistanis. 22. aprilli õhtul jätkus NATO välisministrite kohtumine Tallinnas Estonia kontserdisaalis Eestit tutvustava kultuuriprogrammiga – rännak läbi siinse looduse ja mõttemaailma, mis algab varasest rahvapärimusest ja lõpeb tänase päevaga. Kultuuriprogrammile järgnes välisministrite tööõhtusöök. Foto: Välisministeerium. • 4. detsembril 2010 toimus Tallinnas Solarise keskuses Euroopa Filmiakadeemia 23. auhinnagala. Tallinna valik oli seotud Tallinn – Euroopa kultuuripealinn 2011 staatusega. Tseremooniat kanti televisiooni vahendusel üle enam kui 60 riigis. Kõige rohkem auhindu korjas Roman Polanski fim Variautor. Lisaks auhinnagalale jäi külalistele meelde suur lumesadu ja lumega kaetud Tallinna keskaegne vanalinn, selle müürid ning tornid. Tallinnas viibis Euroopas ja eriti Prantsusmaal tunnustatud näitleja ja Oscari-võitja Juliette Binoche. Foto: A. Haas. • Tallinnal on suur osa kahe maailmakuulsa helilooja – Arvo Pärdi ja Veljo Tormise muusikaalases hariduses ja tööl. V. Tormis on nii õppinud kui õpetanud G. Otsa nimelises Tallinna Muusikakoolis. Muusikaalase kõrghariduse omandamist alustas ta Tallinnas, Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemias ning lõpetas Moskva Konservatooriumi. V. Tormise koorilaulude juured on eesti ja hõimurahvaste folklooris. Pärt õppis samuti G. Otsa nimelises Tallinna Muusikakoolis ja on lõpetanud Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia. Ta töötas 60. aastatel Tallinnas, Eesti Rahvusringhäälingus. A. Pärdi vanast sakraalmuusikast inspireeritud looming otsib vastust igavikulistele küsimustele, puududes paljude inimeste hingekeeli. The paper deals with the protection of the coastal areas of Tallinn and their primary development into harbours. The coast and coastal buildings are endangered by strong storm waves, especially in case of a high sea accompanying the storm. Due to the influence of waves, the coastal terrace recedes towards the land; in the bays the sands are whether deposited or swept away. Storms have caused major destruction to the coasts of Aegna Island and the Kakumäe Peninsula. The coastal area owners, the local authorities, and the organs of the state should take measures to protect the coasts through mutual cooperation and improvement of the valid legislation. The coasts and harbours within the boundaries of Tallinn are predominantly state-owned. In planning the development of the harbours it is necessary to reckon with the increase in passenger transport and sea tourism, environmental protection, safety and economic interests of the city, which have so far been some- what neglected. Tallinn Municipality has begun to rearrange the administration of the coasts and harbours located within the city borders. Muuga Harbour plays a special role in further protection of coasts and development of harbours and could take over a major part of cargo transport within the boundaries of Tallinn.
