The KGSP Scholarship, a Potential Catalyst for Organizational Diversity in Korea

Hector Hugo Cortes1 1 Pai Chai University 1 [email protected]

Abstract

Every year since 1967, South Korea (hence Korea) welcomes graduate students from over one hundred and fifty countries around the world as part of the KGSP (Korean Government Scholarship Program) program, however Korea as a country does not have a program for the professional retention of these potential employees. Moreover, the number of foreign employees working in Korea in high-skill positions is very low, almost non-existent. Another remarkable aspect is the fact that in average, every year, twenty students from the three most important economies in Latin America –Brazil, Mexico and Argentina- move to Korea as KGSP awardees. International Students in Korea go through a very strict method of selection in order to obtain a KGSP scholarship, therefore, the Korean government can be sure that all potential Latin American employees from the KGSP program will have a very good academic background and most probably they will be ready to contribute in their respective fields of study. Another evident advantage is the fact that Latin American students in Korea usually speak two languages, either Spanish or Portuguese and English, consequently, the impact these potential employees will have in the respective companies that hire them will be beneficial for Korean organizations in both the local and global picture. This research work has been done with the intention of proposing and using the KGSP program in Korea as a means to produce capable professionals from Latin America that will eventually work in the Asian country, thus helping this nation to overcome the problem of low Organizational Diversity and in an indirect way, setting the tone for future trading relationships between Korea and Latin America. The handling of corruption cases in the Corruption Court of Mamuju in West Sulawesi has not been effective because the judge did not dare to impose maximum sanction on the Defendant. And the factors that influence the handling of corruption cases in the Mamuju Corruption Court are the professionalism of judges, and related parties in carrying out their duties, the weakness of the integrity of law enforcement so that the public expectation that the special court can give effect deterrent corruptor can not be realized. Facilities and infrastructure such as the lack of judges, the special detention room for Defendant corruption is not available and the courtroom is only 1 (one). And the lack of public participation to report any corruption that occurred in their environment. In order for law enforcement of corruption to be effective, it is expected that the judges' judgment of both the Career Judge and the ad hoc Judge impose maximum criminal sanction by more objectively viewing the role of the defendant in corruption, increasing the number of judges, especially the minimum rank of 4 A, and the provision of the special detention room of Defendant of corruption as well as the addition of courtrooms for corruption cases. Consumer Preference Analysis on the Sharing Service of Autonomous Vehicles: The Case of South Korea Youngsang Cho1, Kyuho Maeng2 1,2Yonsei University 1 [email protected]

Abstract

The car-sharing service is considered as a future mode of transportation that will relieve the economic burden of owning a vehicle and alleviate the chronic traffic problems in the city. Especially, Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) are expected to increase car-sharing market by offering convenience and productive utilization of travel time to consumers and reducing travel time. This study uses discrete choice model to analyze consumers' preference for using AV-sharing service. For this, we conducted a conjoint survey with 602 South Koreans, and derived the utility function of potential consumers for AV-sharing service. In the experimental design, we considered six attributes of AV- sharing service: autonomous driving technology level, pick-up and delivery service, availability of one-way driving, liability for an accident, waiting time after request, and cost per hour. The empirical results show that consumers have high preference for full-automation (i.e. level 4) compared to non-automation (i.e. level 0). Through the relative importance of these six attributes, we also find that autonomous driving technology is the most important attributes followed by liability for an accident. These results can be used to the business model development of AV-sharing service, and to the prediction of consumer behavior in transportation sector. Ideological Fantasy of an Indonesian Absurdist in Danarto's Short Story Godlob Asep Anugrah1 1 Gadjah Mada University 1 [email protected]

Abstract

Reasoning about ideological criticism through literary work can be seen from how the literary work represents ideology of author as a critical form toward social dominated ideology. The matter is when the criticism exactly shows paradox with what the author delivered, so the type of ideological criticism has been described by the author with real literary work which uses language as a medium. Therefore, the author's subjectivity of literary work is just symbolization which forms as post- ideology and it is termed by Žižek as cynicism which only appears on the level of ideological fantasy. This matter is applied by the researcher to analyze Danarto's short story Godlob. This research focuses on Danarto's ideology which is offered as radical acts by the characters. Finally, the questions in this study are; How the radical acts are represented by the characters in this work? And how Danarto's Subjectivity in this short story? So, it can be assumed that ideological criticism and absurdism through literary work do not offer anything as long as it is still committed in symbolization without authentic action. Arsen Intoxication in Asphyxia Mechanism as Cause of Death Jerny Dase1 1 Hasanuddin University 1 [email protected]

Abstract

The objective of the study was to assess the difference of AKGDH enzyme expression in renal tubular cytoplasm in arsenic administration with AKGDH enzyme expression without arsenic administration. Research design: This research is animal experimental design in experimental animal with double blind approach There was a significant difference between the scores of AKGDH expression on rectal tubular cytoplasm of the samples being arsenized with non-arsenic samples. Arsenic samples, mostly (80%) showed <2 (negative) scores. Most samples were not given arsenic (100%) score ≥ 2 (positive). From the test of X2 test (p = 0,001) and Mann-Whitney U test (p = 0,000), there was a significant difference between arsenic samples and non-arsenic samples. The accuracy test of AKGDH expression on renal tubule was obtained negative predictive value is 100%, meaning that 100% of the arsenic samples will give negative AKGDH expression. And Odd ratio (OR) = 0, Confidance Index (62.2% - 104.4%), means there is no chance (= 0 times) for negative expression on unstained samples. The sensitivity of AKGDH expression in the renal tubules was 100%. While the positive predictive value is 83.33%. The value of AUC (Area Under the Curve) obtained from ROC method is 83.3%, which is statistically, this value is quite strong. Clinically, the AUC score of the AKGDH expression score is very satisfactory because it is greater than the expected minimum AUC value of 70%. The conclusion is that there is a difference in the frequency of AKGD enzyme expression in the renal tubular cytoplasm in the administration of arsenic without arsenic. There is a difference in the score of AKGDH enzyme expression on renal tubular cytoplasm in arsenic administration without arsenic. When the score of AKGDH expression in the renal tubule is 2, then there is surely arsenic intoxication. The asphyxia mechanism of arsenic intoxication is the result of damage to the respiratory chain in the mitochondria due to inhibition of the AKGDH enzyme.
