AIRPORT Transfer:

From TORINO (Caselle) AIRPORT

1. The SADEM bus service connects Caselle Airport to the city center of Turin. The final stops of the bus are at Turin main railway stations: Porta Susa and Porta Nuova. We suggest you to stop at Porta Susa.

Single ticket price: 6.50€ (+1,00€ if tickets are purchased on board).

Journey time: 45/50 minutes.

Departure location of the bus: Airport Arrival Area (ground floor).

Tickets: The tickets can be purchased at the ticket office (Ricevitoria) and at ticket machines in the Arrival lounge; they can also be purchased on board (+1,00€ extra-charge). It is suggested to buy the tickets before getting on the bus.

From Porta Susa, to get to your accommodation at Campus SanPaolo (via Caraglio 97), you can take bus 55 towards Don Borio at Porta Susa bus stop (2668) and stop at Robilant bus stop (1513) – approx. journey time: 14 minutes (9 stops). Bus 55 is passing every 9 minutes. From there, a short walk (450m) will get you to your destination.

2. A taxi service from the airport to the city center is also available. You can find a taxi at the Airport Arrival Area. By taxi you can directly get to your accommodation at Campus SanPaolo in via Caraglio 97.

Taxi fare: approx. 30€. Journey time: approx. 30-40 minutes.

From MILANO (Malpensa) AIRPORT

3) If you are part of the group travelling with Turkish arilines upon your arrival at Malpensa Airport T1, a private coach driver will be waiting for you at the Airport Arrival Area with a sign “UZ DOC 2.0”.

He will drive you to your accommodation at Campus SanPaolo – address: Via Caraglio 97.

4) If you are travelling on your own:

A bus service connects Malpensa Airport to Turin. You should get off the bus at the final stop in Torino Autostazione-corso Bolzano (in front of Porta Susa Railway Station).

Single ticket price: 22€.

Journey time: approx. 2 hours.

Departure location of the bus: Airport Arrival Area (both at Terminal 2/Malpensa Nord and Terminal 1/Malpensa Ovest).

Tickets: Reservation of this service is required. The ticket can be bought by credit card from the website estore.arriva.it/en or in the ticket shop. We suggest you to buy the tickets in advance.

Please remind that each passenger can carry n. 1 bag max 160 cms (Total length + width + depth) and n. 1 hand baggage max 115 cms (Total length + width + depth) free of charge. The acceptance of extra baggage is subjected to the payment of € 9,00 for each item. Baggage is not insured and travels at passenger's own risk.

From Torino Autostazione-Corso Bolzano, to get to your accommodation at Campus SanPaolo (via Caraglio 97), you can take bus 55 towards Don Borio at Porta Susa bus stop (2668) and stop at Robilant bus stop (1513) – approx. journey time: 14 minutes (9 stops). The hotel check-in is expected at 15:00 . It will be possible for you to leave your luggage in a deposit room.

The reservation is registered as UNICA - Network of Universities.

Considering that you will arrive on Sunday, you will have spare time to spend in the city (see below for more information on how to get to the city center).

The attendance is compulsory and you will be required to sign a signature sheet every day.

MEETING POINTS:

On both days a colleague of the Politecnico will come to pick you up at the Campus, in order to take you to the venues. The meeting point for both days will be in the Campus SanPaolo Hall.

On Monday 14th, the meeting will be at 12:30.

On Tuesday 15th, the meeting will be at 8:20.

2. How to Commute – Day 1 (if you wish to get to the venue on your own) Between Campus SanPaolo and Politecnico, c.so Duca degli Abruzzi, 24

Option 1: bus 58 To go:

Walking from Campus SanPaolo to Politecnico will take you 26 min (2.1 km).

How to Commute – Day 2 (if you wish to get to the venue on your own) Between Campus SanPaolo and Politecnico, via Pier Carlo Boggio, 61 bus 56 To go:

Bus 56 is passing every 9 min from 7.00 to 12.00 AM Total duration: 18 min

To come back:

Bus 56 is passing every 9 min from 4.00 to 8.00 PM Total duration: 16 min

Alternatively: on foot

Walking from Campus SanPaolo to Politecnico – via Pier Carlo Boggio, 61 will take you 19 min (1.5 km).

3. Where to Buy Your Bus/Tram/Metro Tickets

Generally, you can purchase your tickets from tobacconist’s, most of newsagent’s and every metro stations. There is also the possibility to buy public transport tickets inside the Politecnico. Be aware of the fact that it is not possible to buy a ticket on the bus/tram or metro.

The single journey ticket costs 1,50 € and it is valid for 90 min. Within those 90 min you can jump on and off any bus or tram you need while you can only use the metro once.

How does it work?

Tickets must be validated when you are on the bus/tram or to access to the metro.

On buses and trams: You have to insert the ticket in the orange boxes on the bus or trams to get it validated. The metro: The picture below shows the validation process to pass through the metro station gates.

4. How to Get to the City Center

Piazza Castello (red dot on the map) is the very center of the city.

You can get there by the following combination:

: tram 15 (stopping exactly in the main square);

: Bus 58 or 58/ (final stop Bertola, a few steps away from the main square);

You can also reach Piazza Castello by walking from the other points of interests through the main shopping roads (15 min walk), so to also enjoy a sightseeing of the city.

Turin has also a very charming city park, called “Parco del Valentino”, where the original School of Engineers used to be, in a very elegant castle called “Castello del Valentino”.

Banks and Currency Exchange Banks are commonly open from 8.40 to 13.30 and from 14.40 to 16.00, Monday to Friday. The Italian currency is the EURO. The Euro is available in banknotes and coins. The exchange rate is set on a daily basis.

ATM / Cash Machines Cash machines are located almost at every bank around the city. Credit cards are generally accepted in most restaurants, hotels and shops.

Shops & Museums Shops are generally open 9:00 –12:30 and 15:30 –19:30, closed on Sundays. In the city center many shops are open continuously 9:30 – 19:30. Museum closing day is generally on Monday.
