They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” “What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.” He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. -

E-mail: [email protected] Among regular polygons, the pentagon is considered to be barely used in medieval architectural compositions, due to its odd spatial appearance and difficult method of construction. The pentagon, representing the number five has a rich semantic role in Christian symbolism. Even though the proper way of construction was already invented in the Antiquity, there is no evidence of medieval architects having been aware of this knowledge. Contemporary sources only show approximative construction methods. In the Middle Ages the form has been used in architectural elements such as window traceries, towers and apses. As opposed to the general opinion supposing that this polygon has rarely been used, numerous examples bear record that its application can be considered as rather common. Our paper at- tempts to give an overview of the different methods architects could have used for regular pentagon construction during the Middle Ages, and the ways of applying the form. -

2018 Rapport D’Activité Édito
2018 RAPPORT D’ACTIVITÉ ÉDITO L’année 2018 a vu la création du pôle des musées d’art de Lyon, réunissant le musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon et le musée d’art contemporain. Ce rap- prochement ouvre des perspectives de dialogue entre deux institutions cultu- relles majeures, dont les collections comptent désormais parmi les plus riches en Europe. 2018 a aussi été l’année d’un beau succès de fréquentation pour le musée, avec plus de 300 000 visiteurs, dont près de 30% âgés de moins de 26 ans, témoi- gnant de l’attractivité du musée auprès d’un public de plus en plus jeune. Une hausse de fréquentation des collections permanentes a été constatée, grâce notamment à la présentation de la dona- tion Robelin d’œuvres d’Erik Dietman, aux réaménagements des parcours de visite, et à une programmation culturelle dynamique à l’intention de tous les publics. Pour la première fois, une opération de financement participatif associée à l’achat du billet d’entrée au musée a été lancée pour financer la restauration du cercueil d’Isetenkheb, un des chefs-d’œuvre de la collection des antiquités égyptiennes. La restauration a été LE MUSÉE EN CHIFFRES effectuée à l’automne, grâce à la mobilisation de nombreux visiteurs. Une exposition-dossier a été organisée pour la première fois hors les murs, fruit d’un partenariat de longue date avec un des acteurs du monde associatif, ATD Quart Monde. Elle a permis à des publics éloignés d’admirer des céramiques ottomanes et des monnaies 5 000 8 000 50 000 antiques provenant de l’actuelle Turquie. -

Using inscriptions on Greek vases and Roman coins as well as maps and house plans as examples, it demonstrates ways to insert material culture into the Greek and Latin classroom that will enhance a student’s knowledge of the language. It also shows how the use of material culture will help a class meet not only the Cultures goal of the new Standards, but also the Connections, Comparisons, and Communication goals. KEYWORDS Roman coins, material culture, inscriptions, maps, house plans, Standards, Greek vases A student starting French or Spanish can hold a short conversation in the target language after just one week of class. What can we offer students beginning their journey in ancient Greek or Latin? This article will demonstrate ways to insert material culture into high school and college Greek and Latin classrooms through inscriptions on Greek vases and Roman coins and through the exploration of maps and plans. -

Jahrhundert«. Suburbs have mostly received attention in recent years as social hot spots. An examination of the history of urban planning and expansion reveals a fundamental paradox, for it became apparent very early on that living space does not lend itself so readily to plan- ning. Although the rise of suburbs is usually associated with the nineteenth century, a few "early bloomers" can be identified in urban history. Architects such as Antoine-Michel Perrache and Jean-Antoine Morand, who designed ex- pansion projects in the south and in the east of the city of Lyon, became veri- table city planners, if not choreographers, of the suburbs. -

ASSEMBLEE GENERALE DE CONCERTATION DE L’UCIL 24 OCTOBRE 2011 Discours du Président Denis EYRAUD Rapport d’activité 2010-2011 Je remercie en votre nom à tous le Président Gérard COLLOMB qui a bien voulu, comme c’est la tradition, assister à cette Assemblée Générale de l’UCIL qui permet chaque année aux responsables des comités d’intérêts locaux de l’agglomération lyonnaise d’entendre leur premier magistrat et de lui poser des questions d’actualité relative aux nombreux sujets qui préoccupent les habitants. Nous savons, Monsieur le président, que votre agenda est extrêmement chargé, c’est pourquoi nous apprécions d’autant plus le privilège de cette rencontre annuelle attendue avec impatience par tous. Cette impatience était cette année d’autant plus grande que l’an passé l’assemblée programmée le 1er décembre avait dû être annulé à cause de la neige tombée en abondance la veille, bloquant toute circulation. Merci aussi à tous les élus et techniciens de l’agglomération lyonnaise qui nous font également l’honneur et l’amitié d’être présents ce soir, qu’ils m’excusent de ne pas les citer tous. Cette manifestation se déroulera en trois temps : 1 – le rapport d’activité de l’UCIL pour l’année écoulée, 2 – l’intervention du Président Gérard COLLOMB, 3 – les réponses des élus aux questions qui ont été posées par les CIL. Enfin après nos débats nous nous retrouverons autour du verre de l’amitié. Introduction Certains seront surpris de me voir présider à nouveau cet exercice. En effet, après avoir été à la tête de notre fédération durant 6 ans et demi, du 24 septembre 2001 au 10 mars 2008, j’avais démissionné pour plus me consacrer à ma profession d’architecte et également parce que je pensais, et pense toujours, qu’un président ne doit pas être éternel. -
