FALCONS ONE GAME BEHIND DIVISION LEADER AFTER CRITERIA CHANGE Saint Augustine’s University is one game out of fi rst place in the CIAA Southern Division after the CIAA changed the conference schedule from seven games to six on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Hurricane Florence caused the cancellation of several games in September. Based on the new criteria, the 32-22 loss to Bowie State University at home on Sept. 22 is now a non-conference game. With the loss removed from their CIAA STANDINGS CIAA record, the Falcons are now 2-1 in the Southern Division. They are tied with Northern Division Conf. Ovr. Winston-Salem State University for second place. Fayetteville State leads the division Virginia Union 3-0 5-1 at 3-0. Instead of determining Divisional Champions based on a 7-game Southern Division Conf. Ovr. regular season composite schedule, a 6-game criteria will be used to determine Fayetteville State 3-0 4-1 this year’s Division Champions who will then advance to participate in the 2018 Winston-Salem State 2-1 3-3 CIAA Football Championship on Nov. 10. The updated criteria for this year only will Saint Augustine’s 2-1 2-4 include one cross-division game and the teams’ full divisional schedule for games Shaw 1-2 2-4 between Sept. 29 - Nov. 3. The CIAA Football Division Champions are determined by Johnson C. Smith 1-2 1-5 conference winning percentage.
