You will fi nd several top consignments that include a wide range of wines – from benchmark Bordeaux and Burgundy to the most highly sought wines from California. The full cases of top Bordeaux will certainly be of interest to many collectors. In addition to the amazing Lafi te including 1982 (lots 82-83) and 2000 (lots 107-108), bidders should note the full cases in the consignment found in lots 242-391, which contains a great selection Paul Hart of modern vintages. Further gems are found in lots 430-491, from the cold, temperature President & CEO Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. controlled cellar of a longtime client and friend who we have been working with for over 15 years. Here you will fi nd 1989 Haut-Brion (lot 437), 1990 Cheval-Blanc (lot 441), along with fi rst growth cases from 1995, 1996 and 2000. California collectors will certainly not be disappointed! The selection of Screaming Eagle, Harlan, Bryant and Araujo is not often seen. We are also pleased to offer an exceptional group of wines from Joseph Phelps Vineyard from the cellars of Craig Williams, the former winemaker at the property. The consignment includes Insignia dating back to 1974 and further historic verticals of Eisele and Backus Cabernets that have aged remarkably and are now diffi cult to fi nd. Whether you are a collector of Madeira, or you have yet to explore this unique and historic region, you will want to review lots 532-554. We have offered so many wonderful groups from this unrivaled cellar – always with happy buyers reporting back on these great bottles. We have a remarkable team at Hart Davis Hart and we are the most experienced in the industry. We hope that you will plan to join us in Chicago for this auction on Saturday, November 1! Sincerely, Paul Hart President & CEO October 2008 Refl ections by Kevin A. Swersey, Senior Consultant As the second year of my consulting relationship for Hart Davis Hart comes to a close, I thought I would take this opportunity and refl ect what it’s been like for me over the past two years. Being a born and raised New Yorker, I must say I held my breath when I initially signed up Kevin Swersey Senior Consultant to start consulting for HDH in January of 2007. What would it be like traveling back and Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. forth to Chicago (truth be told, if the winds are just right, I can make it from Westchester County Airport to O’Hare in less time than it takes me to get from my home in Westchester to a client on Wall Street)? And what about the food...what is this deep dish pizza all about? You need a shovel to eat it! I still favor New York’s thin crust foldable pizza, but that is just a matter of personal taste. My family and I were able to do something that hasn’t happened in 25 years. We attended a Mets vs. Cubs game at Wrigley in the afternoon, then went to see the Yankees vs. White Sox at US Cellular fi eld that evening—something we will never forget! Wrigley Field is truly awesome. Any and all baseball fans should make the trip to Chicago to experience this American icon. I am not sure whether it’s the fact that Wrigley is smack in the middle of a real neighborhood, the smell of those hot dogs, the beauty of the ivy growing on the outfi eld walls, or the passion of the fans, the intimacy of the park is like none I have ever experienced. Wow! And what has it been like working with the world’s best and most experienced wine auction team? Their Midwestern manner of conducting business is refreshing, a passion for what they do, a level of professionalism not seen in many businesses these days, and a success story that really needs a Harvard Business Review study. From the Verlin auctions through numerous 100% sold sales and most recently, The Fox Cellar, the team at Hart Davis Hart is committed to getting things done correctly, the fi rst time. As the ink dries on my story, we have just lived through the rewriting of the US fi nancial system, yet the 2-day Fox Sale just vaulted HDH into the record books yet again with a sale total of $11.2 million, and another 100% sold sale. A case of 1982 Lafi te even sold for more than a case of 1982 Petrus. Wow! To all my colleagues, and now friends, at HDH thank you for inviting me into your family, and look forward to many more successful and prosperous years together in the future. • Pinotfile Vol 8 Issue 41
Pinot Noir is a liquid lullaby Volume 8, Issue 41 July 18, 2011 A Trip Well Taken “You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave!” Hotel California, The Eagles There are many wine regions in California that produce Pinot Noir of uncommon richness, but there is only one that has a major river running through it that defines its very existence. The Russian River Valley is 1,485 square miles of wilderness, farmland, towns and cities that lie in the Russian River watershed. Vintners here like to say that fog makes the Pinot Noir and it is the regular intrusion of cooling fog from the Pacific Ocean through the Petaluma Wind Gap a few miles to the west of the Russian River Valley and through the channel cut by the Russian River that allows Pinot Noir to develop intense flavor maturity over an extended growing season. It would almost seem that the River gives Russian River Valley Pinot Noir its spirit. For me, I am drawn back to the Russian River Valley for the lifestyle built around great Pinot Noir, food and wine country living. The combination of farmers’ markets, reservation-only restaurants, roadside taverns and winery dining are all part of the tapestry of life along the Russian River Valley. It is one of those magical places that you never really leave even as you reluctantly slide into your car for the trip home. Each year as part of ¡Salud! The Oregon Wine Auction, I donate a hosted “Russian River Valley Immersion Weekend” for four people.

  • Wine Like Many of the World’S Great Wines, Our Wine List Is Created to Reflect a Sense of Place
wine Like many of the world’s great wines, our wine list is created to reflect a sense of place. Cavallo Point sits at the gateway to California’s venerable North Coast, home to some of the world’s most renowned wine-growing regions. Our list celebrates the history of wine in California, and presents a vision of where it is going. From the state’s legendary wineries that laid the foundation, and the cult wines driving the mystique, to the small production, artisanal producers who are pushing the envelope of quality, we strive to tell the true story of wine in California. While we are passionate about the wines made here by our friends and neighbors, we would be remiss to ignore the incredible wines produced around the globe. The centuries old wine-making traditions brought here from the old-world have been built upon to become the California wine culture that we enjoy today. We pay homage to those traditions through our extensive collection of the finest wines produced throughout the world. The Cavallo Point wine list is comprised of over 2,200 selections from 25 countries, with vintages dating back to 1922. Our Sommeliers are always happy to offer their guidance and recommendations. If you have a special bottle from your cellar you would like to enjoy while dining with us, our corkage fee is $30.00 per 750ml, and we will gladly waive one corkage fee for each equivalent bottle purchased from our list. We thank you for coming to Cavallo Point, and are happy you can spend some time with us at this very special place.

Every conceivable effort is made to bring our Guests a spectacular wine experience; from the cellars, kept at 55° Fahrenheit, to the crystal stemware to our knowledgeable sommeliers. As wine enjoys an unprecedented explosion in popularity worldwide, we strive to stay ahead of the curve. Our list is constantly evolving, reflecting the latest trends and regions, while maintaining a solid footing on the time-honored masters of the craft. Our dedication to providing a comprehensive representation of the world of wine has resulted in quite an extensive list. Being a native Texas steakhouse, the focus naturally falls on full-bodied reds. However, we have certainly not neglected the rest of the spectrum. White Burgundies, Riesling, as well as dessert wines and Ports, also enjoy the spotlight. While we invite you to explore the list at your leisure, our wine stewards relish sharing their knowledge. Every wine is unique, as is every Guest, and we welcome the opportunity to pay personal attention to each pairing. It is our fervent hope that you will find this list both as exciting and eye-opening as we do. Savor the journey! 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017
