Our focus is to offer only top collections that have been properly stored. There is a diverse range of wines offered in this December auction, and some remarkably deep collections. If you are searching for top Bordeaux from the best modern vintages, this is a catalog that you will want to review carefully. The depth of great vintages is remarkable – note the group of 1982s (lots 543-559) and 2000s (lots 471-487) along with the abundance of fi rst growth Paul Hart Bordeaux across so many vintages. Bidders are sure to fi nd favorites among the selection of President & CEO Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. great classics. While we often offer Screaming Eagle, we have not offered or seen a group of this depth. Perhaps the height of rarity, Screaming Eagle is a wine that is always highly sought. Included in the auction’s opening consignment is a selection of Screaming Eagle in lots 157-174 that includes 12 vintages, a remarkable selection of bottles, and even a few incredibly rare double magnums. Collectors of the hard to fi nd and incredibly original Sine Qua Non from California will fi nd a 128 lot section – a virtual library of Manfred Krankl’s gems – offered in lots 196-324. Krankl’s incredibly original approach includes bold and striking blends, artisanal bottles and unique labels to complete the package. Additionally, each bottling is made only once and not continued in later vintages. This near-comprehensive offering is a special opportunity. Whether you are bidding for holiday gifts or hunting for rarities for your cellar, we hope that you will come to Chicago and join us at Tru on December 6th. If you are unable to make the trip, please know that you can fax your bids to us or visit us online at www.hdhwine.com to place your bids. Many collectors have also taken advantage of www.hdhlive.com, a service that offers live online bidding, allowing you to take part in the action over the Internet. We have a remarkable and experienced team at Hart Davis Hart. We have built our reputation by bringing the fi nest collections to the market and by providing the highest level of service. If you have been one of our loyal customers, we thank you for making 2008 such an incredible year. If you have not bid before, we hope that you will fi nd a few lots of interest in this catalog. Since 1954 the Regional Oral History Office has been interviewing leading participants in or well-placed witnesses to major events in the development of Northern California, the West, and the Nation. Oral history is a modern research technique involving an interviewee and an informed interviewer in spontaneous conversation. The taped record is transcribed, lightly edited for continuity and clarity, and reviewed by the interviewee. The resulting manuscript is typed in final form, indexed, bound with photographs and illustrative materials, and placed in The Bancroft Library at the University of California, Berkeley, and other research collections for scholarly use. Because it is primary material, oral history is not intended to present the final, verified, or complete narrative of events. It is a spoken account, offered by the interviewee in response to questioning, and as such it is reflective, partisan, deeply involved, and irreplaceable. All uses of this manuscript are covered by a legal agreement between The Regents of the University of California, Charles F Wagner dated September 20, 1993, and Charles J.

  • A Guide to Napa Valley Cult Wineries
HOME A Guide to Napa Valley Cult Wineries DRINK by WC STAFF on DECEMBER 22, 2015 34307 1 Made in small quantities and often sold for high prices, cult wines often earn high scores from top wine wine critics— Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. Many are made by famous “flying winemakers” (consulting winemakers who fly around the world making wine for top estates), although some are simply families who have farmed the land long enough to know how to draw the best out of it. Napa Valley has one of the highest concentrations of cult wines in the world, so we’ve laid out a list of some of the top Napa Valley cult wines, including both the established legends and the rising stars. The wines are almost always Cabernet Sauvignon—this is Napa Valley, after all—and are complex, densely structured, and absolutely beautiful to experience. Now if we could just get on that allocation list… The Legends Image Source: Harlan Estate Harlan Estate and BOND Estates Visit: Appointments may be available for members Founder Bill Harlan spares no expense to create these Napa Valley cult classics. Harlan comes from estate vineyards in the Oakville hills and has earned five 100 point scores from Robert Parker between 1994 and 2007. On the other side of the same coin, BOND aims to highlight the best terroir in Napa Valley with six wines created from six distinct single-vineyard sites. These wines are also Parker darlings; four 100 points scores from Robert Parker since 2000. The wines from both wineries are exquisite examples of Napa Valley at its best.
