2021 Oregon Harvest Internship Sokol Blosser Winery Dundee, OR Job Description: Sokol Blosser Winery, located in the heart of Oregon's wine country, is one of the state's most well- known wineries. For the upcoming 2021 harvest, we are looking to hire multiple experienced cellar hands, with one individual focused on lab/fermentation monitoring. Our ideal candidates will have 2+ previous harvest experiences, but not required. Amazing forklift skills are a bonus! Our 2021 harvest will focus on the production of both small batch Pinot Noir for our Sokol Blosser brand and large format fermentation for our Evolution brand. Additionally, we work with Pinot Gris, Rose of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, various sparkling bases, Gamay and aromatic varieties such as Riesling, and Müller-Thurgau. Our estate vineyard is certified organic and our company is B-Corp certified. Cellar hand responsibilities • Cleaning and more cleaning • Attention to detail/safety • Harvest tasks including but not limited to (cap management, racking, inoculations, barrel work, cleaning, forklift driving, etc.) • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work long hours in variable conditions, follow directions, and accurately fill out work orders • Potential support to lab work including running pH/TA, using equipment such as densitometers/refractometers and data entry We provide • Housing on site • Lunches, and dinners on late nights • Cats and dogs for all your cuteness needs • Football and Frisbee time • End of day quality time with co-workers, work hard-play hard! 2016 Evolution Pinot Noir VINTAGE: 2016 APPELLATION: 100% Willamette Valley AVA GRAPE VARIETIES USED: 100% Pinot Noir ALCOHOL: 13.5% RESIDUAL SUGAR: 3.4 g/L LENGTH AND TYPE OF AGING: 100% stainless steel aged with oak staves DATE BOTTLED: March 2017 BOTTLE AGING PRIOR TO RELEASE: 9 months LIFESPAN IN A PROPER CELLAR: 5-7 years NUMBER OF CASES PRODUCED: 3,824 cases SUGGESTED RETAIL: $20 VINTAGE SUMMARY: Every growing season in the northern Willamette Valley is different and in our 45th growing year at Sokol Blosser we saw something very special: our earliest bloom on record. While we had bud break later in 2016 than we had in 2015, the warm weather in April and May progressed the vine growth enough to push up bloom. You can just about set your clock from the time of bloom to the first day of harvest…100 days. When we had bloom on May 20th (Mid-June is more typical for the start of bloom) we could see that August 28th would be the start of harvest. An August start date is not scary, it just is what mother nature gives you. We all took our summer vacations in July and were ready to go by mid-August so we could bring in some fruit for our sparkling wine programs on August 19th. It was not an especially dry year as we got our typical dump of rain during the winter of 15/16, and even had some wet weather during our early bloom in May/June which ended up destroying a lot of the clusters. -

We gather in celebration and support of the more than 3,000 children and youth enrolled and participating in the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Helena and Calistoga in our St. Helena Clubhouse, St. Helena Teen Center, Calistoga Clubhouse, Calistoga Teen Center and the Howell Mountain School Site. We offer our heartfelt gratitude to our hosts and sponsors, the Trinchero Family, Trinchero Family Estates, our BIG Night chairs Bob Torres and Marianna Hawkins, and the many Board members, patrons, donors, volunteers, vintners, and staff members who have made this event possible. Since the last BIG Night- and with over one million raised, boy was last year BIG- we have taken our teens on over 10 different college tour trips, brought kids interested in space and science from all of our units to NASA Space Camp in Alabama, remodeled our outdated tech lab in St. Helena into a STEM Lab, expanded our Healthy Habits nutrition program across all sites, bought two brand new vans for trips, began boxing and fitness classes for our teens, increased funding for our art programs, brought in world-class musicians and music classes, partnered with health services to provide counseling for the kids who need us the most, and more. Garagiste Vaughn Duffy Wines November
Volume 06 Issue 24 Garagiste WINE CLUB [gar-uh-zheest’] noun - A French term used to describe independent, artisan winemakers crafting small batches of wine in garage-type settings and not yet discovered by the mainstream. Vaughn Duffy Wines Owner/Winemaker: Matt Duffy & Sara Vaughn Location: Sonoma County, CA Matt Duffy attended University of California Berkeley and expected to be an English or journalism graduate. Several years after leaving Cal Berkeley, Duffy managed a tasting room at Twisted Oak Winery in the Sierra Foothills AVA. The experience morphed into additional jobs around the winery and Duffy’s course of action changed to the pursuit of the almighty grape. Fast forward to around 2009 and Duffy and his now wife, Sara Vaughn, made the decision to buy one ton of Pinot Noir and turn it into the first release of Vaughn Duffy Wines, a tiny issue of only 150 cases some two years later. “We have grown steadily,” confirmed Matt Duffy. “We will top out at around 2,000 cases this year and we won’t get any larger.” Duffy said that the couple wants to stay small so that they can focus on every aspect of the business, a novel concept in the ever-expanding establishment that is the modern wine industry. All Vaughn Duffy wines are produced at the noted Sonoma custom crush facility called Vinify Wine Services in Santa Rosa where Duffy also serves as the company’s production manager. “What really matters is that everything really works well for us,” informed Duffy. “We were really surprised when we received some of the scores early on.
