THURSDAY MORNING, 19 MAY 2005 REGENCY E, 8:30 TO 11:35 A.M. Session 4aAA Architectural Acoustics and Noise: Preserving Acoustical Integrity in the Course of Renovation Daniel R. Raichel, Chair 2727 Moore Ln., Fort Collins, CO 80526 Chair’s Introduction—8:30 Invited Papers 8:35 4aAA1. Renovating Teatro alla Scala Milano for the 21st century, Part I. Higini Arau ͑Travesera de Dalt, 118, 08024 Barcelona, Spain, [email protected]͒ Teatro alla Scala of Milan, known simply as La Scala throughout the world, is an old but venerable opera house that achieved legendary status in the world of music. A great number of singers of Olympian status have sung there; and major operas, among them Verdi’s Falstaff and Otello and Puccini’s Turandot, premiered there. The 227-year-old theater is beloved with a passion by the Milanese and the Italians, but it has suffered the ravages of time. It needed to be renovated in order to reverse material decay, meet current fire codes and security requirements, incorporate a new HVAC system, and to accommodate badly needed modern stage machinery. This renovation project took 3 years during which the theater was closed, and it included the construction of an elliptical 17-floor fly tower, designed by architect Mario Botta, for housing rehearsal rooms and serving as a scenery changing facility. The renovation proposal originally aroused a strong sense of melodrama among the extremely excitable Italian opera buffs who feared the desecration of their beloved edifice, but the acoustics and the beauty ͑carried out by Elisabetta Fabbri Architect͒ of the auditorium were preserved ͑and even enhanced͒. -
Chiroubles 2017 Maison Passot
MAISON PASSOT CHIROUBLES 2017 MAISON PASSOT || Maison Passot is a small 11 hectare family property spread over 4 crus in Beaujolais. Owners Dominique, Rémy and Simon continue the family tradition, going back generations. The family tends 21 plots - half of which are in Chiroubles, one quarter in Morgon, and smaller holdings in Fleurie and Régnié - in addition to some Viognier vines. All farming follows strict tenets of la lutte raisonnée for a more “natural” wine, surrounded by signs of life and rich biodiversity. BEAUJOLAIS || Located north of Lyon in eastern France, Beaujolais overlaps Burgundy in the north and Rhône in the south. The picturesque Beaujolais vineyards run along the Saône River where the Crus form a meandering path on the granite terrain. From south to north, Brouilly is followed by Côte de Brouilly, Régnié, Morgon, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Juliénas and Saint-Amour. CHIROUBLES 2017 || BLEND | 100% Gamay VINEYARDS | Chiroubles is considered “the most Beaujolais of the Crus” with its thin sandy, degraded granite soils (known locally as gore) that produce very delicate wines. Passot’s plots are 50 year old vines on slopes oriented to the southeast at 300-400 meters (the highest altitude in Beaujolais). WINEMAKING | Hand harvested grapes that undergo primary and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel and cement vats. ALCOHOL | 12.7% PRESS | 92 VIN “Bright violet color. Vibrant, sharply focused red berry, cherry and floral pastille scents, along with suggestions of musky earth and licorice. In an elegant, seamless style, offering juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that turn sweeter as the wine opens up. -

Press Release Bourgogne Régionale Appellations with an Additional
Press Release All you need to know about: Régionale Appellations with an additional geographical denomination March 2019 What is an additional geographical denomination? Certain appellations include in their specifications a “dénomination géographique complémentaire”, or additional geographical denomination. This identifies a more restricted territory than that set out in the “Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée” in which they are located. These geographical denominations highlight areas in the Bourgogne or Mâcon appellations with specific characteristics. They also set out stricter production specifications (see below). These areas benefit from the overall rise in quality of Bourgogne wines over many years thanks to: - Improvements in growing and enological practices - The sector’s engagement in an eco-responsible dynamic - Climate change They are a market-driven response to consumer expectations, associating pleasure with affordable prices. The geographical denomination within a specification is not limited to Régionale appellations. Premier Cru appellations are also additional geographical denominations within the specifications of each Village AOC. Druing the creation of the AOCs, the Climats of certain Village wines were highlighted for their exceptional characteristics and obtained Premier Cru status (the exact name for this category is henceforth AOC Village Premier Cru). Likewise, some Grand Cru appellations underwent the same process. Chablis Grand Cru is the best-known: There is only one set of specifications for Chablis Grand -
