  • Ridgeline Vineyards
Ridgeline Vineyard In 2012, after several years of working with its coveted grapes, Decoy acquired the renowned Ridgeline Vineyard property, fulfilling a long-held dream of establishing an Estate program in the Alexander Valley and Sonoma County. The lush, structured Bordeaux-varietal fruit from this storied vineyard has become a central element in our Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and flagship Decoy Red, further enhancing the quality of our wines, and underscoring our belief in the importance of Estate vineyards. Located approximately 90 miles north of San Francisco, Ridgeline Vineyard is situated on Oak Mountain in the Alexander Valley AVA—Sonoma County’s finest appellation for growing Bordeaux grapes. The property consists of 44 unique hillside vineyard blocks, with different soils and elevations (up to nearly 2,000 feet). Though this spectacular mountain vineyard spans more than 400 acres, only 89 acres are under vine. The rest is preserved in its natural state, providing a stunning backdrop to the vine rows. Looming high above Alexander Valley at the north end of the Mayacamas mountain range, Ridgeline primarily consists of Cabernet Sauvignon and the other Bordeaux red grapes. Originally planted in 1999, the site benefits from an east-west exposure for maximum sunlight, and a north-south vertical axis for ideal drainage. Steep slopes further contribute to drainage, resulting in lower yields and concentrated flavors. These factors, and the site’s primarily Boomer and Sobrante loam soils, threaded with interlacing natural mineral springs, provide remarkable conditions for cultivating red grapes with phenomenal color, flavor and structure. Additionally, while summer daytime temperatures are hot enough to suit heat-loving red grapes, the rapid cooling effect of evening fog from the nearby Pacific Ocean preserves the fresh, enlivening acidity of the fruit as it ripens.

P a g e | 1 WINE LIST This wine list of over 180 bottles is designed to represent the diversity and universal character of the wine world today as well as to complement the meticulously composed and innovative food of our Executive Chef, Philippe Striffeler. Food is our focus, wine is our passion. These hand selected wines are a balanced compilation of classic and esoteric wine regions that are both extravagant and approachable. We have selected wines not based on their reviews and accolades but based on their quality and stylistic correctness. Terroir specificity along with the purity of the flavors, value, and food friendliness were the main factors motivating our selections. They reflect their characteristic aromatic profile of their fruit, the expression of their geographic origins, and the specific wine making techniques. We have developed our wine list to reflect modern and traditional wine philosophies. Building relationships with several independent importers, a few main stream distributors, and many local boutique treasures has enabled us to represent many wine producing nations around the world while keeping our focus here in California. With this list we are pleased to share our passion as well as our knowledge of the perpetually changing world of wine. If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask our knowledgeable staff as they are trained to help with food and wine pairings in order to select wines that suit your palette as well as your budget. alexander valley MERLOT 2016 APPELLATION Grapes for the Folie à Deux 2016 Merlot are hand-picked from a selection of prime vineyards in the cooler parts of Alexander Valley. Nestled in northern Sonoma County, Alexander Valley AVA stretches 22 miles from Healdsburg to Cloverdale, following the meandering course of the Russian River. Along its heavily graveled bench lands and foothills lie some of California’s supreme Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, which benefit from the region’s warm daytime temperatures, marine-cooled evenings and well-drained, volcanic hillside soils. GROWING SEASON 2016 was a phenomenal vintage for Sonoma County. Harvest began slightly earlier after more welcomed winter rain than previous years. Why We're Drinking It Tucked away in the beautiful, rugged landscape of the not-so-well-known Frankland River Region of Southwestern Australia, sits the Frankland Estate. It takes about 4 hours to get to from just about anywhere more densely populated (think Perth), but is its own slice of farming heaven. The owners, Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam, were originally wool farmers and decided in the late 80s to diversify their landscape and plant 30 hectares to vineyards. With a mind focused on organic farming they use mid-row cultivation, mulching, composting, and other techniques to increase soil fertility and bio-diversity in the vineyard. They even have a flock of guinea fowl led by Gladys, the queen hen, to tend to the bugs in the vineyard! Ok, so geeky history and organic practices aside, let’s get to this Olmo’s Reward. A blend of predominantly Cab Franc, Merlot and a smidge of Malbec, this beautifully balanced and complex wine has stunning aromas and flavors of juicy blue fruits, currants, and cranberries with notes of cedar, Thanksgiving spice and a hint of classic minty eucalyptus found in Aussie wines. It’s not your typical big, heavy Australian wine, it’s refined, savory and has a lovely racy backbone thanks to the vibrant acidity. Oh and the name you ask? It’s named for the founder of the region, UC Davis professor and renowned American viticulturist, Dr.
