The KGS Nörten-Hardenberg is a high school (cooperative integrated school), located in Nörten- Hardenberg. The school was built from 1969 to 1973, as the Novalis School. 1974 the local school reorganisation took place. Because of that some of the schools in smaller villages were closed. The students transfered to the Novalis School in Nörten. Those villages were Bishausen, Sudershausen, Angerstein, Lütgenrode, Wolbrechtshausen, Elvese and Parensen. In 1973 the first students were able to transfer to the school voluntarily. Since 1974 it became an requirement to transfer. If students had a good grade point average they were also able to transfer to a grammer school as well. In 2009 the Novalis school in Nörten-Hardenberg was closed and became a branch of the KGS Moringen. Since then the school is named KGS Moringen/ Nörten-Hardenberg . Nörten-Hardenberg

In 6th grade you also have to decide which second foreign language ( Spanish or French ) you want to study in school. When you want to get into grammar school you have to do a second foreign language, but you're also able to do it if you are a middle - or main school s t u d e n t . Project groups at the KGS Nörten

Before the summer break, there is a project week at o u r school. Two weeks before the project week starts, t h e students vote for their favourite project on our sc h o o l website Iserv. There are over fifteen projects to c h o o s e from. You need to pick three projects that you woul d l i ke to do and rank them from 1 to 3.

Sometimes too many students want to do the same project and that's why we have to have a second wish/ pick. Before you choose your project you can look at the information, who is going to organize the project and what you're going to do.

Not all projects are available for every grade. The teachers try to do projects for different age group s like mountain biking or paramedics. Those projects are for the older students because it's maybe too dangerous for younger students.

But most of the time its not a big deal. We have enough projects for everyone. In the projects you will meet new students from other age groups and classes. It’s always a lot of fun to learn new stuf f and enjoy the time with your friends. Work placement

In the 9th grade every student has the opportunity to do a work placement. You have to do the work placement in a period of three weeks. During these weeks you have work at least 30-35 hours per week. After three weeks you have to prepare a presentation and present it in front of your class and the school. It's your decision - which job you choose, but you should choose a work placement that is useful for your future. You also compile a work placement folder, where you are suppose to write a preliminary report, which reflects your expectations. In addition you have to do an interview with your fellow workers. Questions are for example: "Why did you choose this job?", "Which graduation do you need to practice the job?", "How are the career opportunities?" Once a week a teacher comes to visit you and asks you if everything is okay. We advise you to write down notes daily, because you have to write 3 daily reports. Work placement II

In the reports you have to describe 3 days more precisely. You can choose the day of your report - for example exciting days - when you learned a lot of interesting things.

You also have to construct a main discussion topic. You choose a topic that you want to write about. A good example for a main discussion topic is: Functions in your firm. At the end you author a final report, where you are writing about your impressions. After the 3 weeks you have to give the work placement folder to your politics teacher. Your German teacher will collect your main discussion topic and your final report.

Have fun at your work placement!

J o n a s Zukunftstag Future Day

In Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) the future day is m andatory since 2006. Lower Saxony is the first German state that launche d a mandatory future day. It is for all students from grade 5 till 10. The fu ture day is mandatory from year 5 till year 7. Often big companies organize special events for stu dents. Smaller companies rather offer the chance to get a look into the diff erent aspects of their job. You have to organize your internship on your own. We do that because we learn something about different jobs. Furthermore the fut ure day can be used as a chance to learn something about not gendered profes sions. https://www.ms.niedersachsen.de Jugend trainiert für Olympia Every year "Jugend traniert für Olympia" is taking place."Jugend trainiert für Olympia" is a big sport s competition.

Before "JtfO" starts, P.E. teachers are looking for talented students who want to take part in the competition. Then the teacher looks for possible dates to practice as a school team. At practice the teacher looks for the most talented students for the school team. When the team is completed, the competition starts. Every week you have a tournament at different places, you have to win to get to the next round. In a boys' team there are 15 players and in a girls' team there are 10 players. When you are successful you can qualify for the "Bundesfinale" (German finals). The boys have to play on a regular pitch and the girls have to play on a smaller pitch. Boys and girls have two different age levels. It's a lot of fun. Lea Second foreign languages In the sixth grade you are able to learn a second foreign language (next to English). If you want to take your A-levels you have to learn a second language - you can choose between Spanish+French.

French or Spanish In French, there are a lot of irregular verbs and different tenses, futhermore it is easier to study French because of the lower interest and smaller classes. In the 9th grade you also have to pass an o ra l exam and you will visit Paris for a week.

If you are in the 5th grade and you want to learn French, then you can participate in the ,,French project group", where you bake crêpes, build an Eiffel Tower out of old plastic bottels and learn more about the French culture. Class trips in the nineth grade
