Tools/Notions: • 3.0mm (US 2½) and 3.6mm (approx. US 4 or 5) knitting needles or sizes necessary to achieve gauge • cable needle • tapestry needle
Finished measurements: • head circumference 48cm/18.90" (will stretch up to 50cm/19.69") • depth 18cm/7.09"
Gauge (10cm/4" square): • pattern stitch: 27.5 sts and 37.5 rows
Gauge may vary according to individual knitting style. Change needle size if necessary to achieve gauge. Alternatively, rework pattern with your own gauge measurements.
Summary Body of hat: Cast on with long-tail cast-on method. Referring to schematic and chart, work in k1p1 ribbing, pattern stitch, and then k1p1 ribbing again. Bind off in pattern.
Finishing: Fold hat in half with wrong sides facing each other. Seam sides with mattress stitch. Make two pompoms, each 4cm/1.57" in diameter, and attach to top corners of hat.
