Gauge (10cm/4" square): • stranded pattern stitch: 24.5 sts and 26 rows • stockinette stitch: 24.5 sts and 25.5 rows

Gauge may vary according to individual knitting style. Change needle size if necessary to achieve gauge. Alternatively, rework pattern with your own gauge measurements.

Summary With main color, cast on with long-tail cast-on method. Work in k2p2 ribbing for 14 rows. Work 2 rows of st st, decreasing with k2tog on first st st row. Continue in stranded pattern stitch for 26 rows. On the next row, work in st st again, decreasing as indicated. After final row, cut yarn, thread tail through all remaining stitches, and cinch top of hat shut. With wrong sides facing each other, seam side of hat using mattress stitch.
