ITEM: KNIT CAP -SWORN MEMBERS, OPTIONAL

MATERIAL: 100% Acrylic knit doubled faced

COLOR: Dark Navy

STYLE: Olympic style form-fitted four gore skull cap faced with base material.

Police Officers: The patrolman cap will have the blue Chicago Police Department Star 2 1/3" high and 2 1/3" wide embroidered with approved colors center front 1/2" above the dark navy and white alternating 5/8" x 2/5" knitted CPD checkerboard design. The checkerboard design will be knitted 4/5" from the edge of cap. The back of cap will have white letters CPD 3/5" high x 2 2/3 " wide centered in back no less than 3/8" above checkerboard. Supervisors: The supervisors cap will mirror the patrolman cap with the exception of the CPD Star, CPD letters on back of cap and the Checkerboard band will all be in the approved gold tone to symbolize the supervisory status. All supervisors knitted caps will look the same.

CONSTRUCTION: Chain stitch and lock stitch method.

SIZE: One size fits all with (widths) up to 21cm and (length) up to 23cm.

AUTHORIZATION/ RESTRICTIONS 1. The authorized knitted cap is an optional uniform item for use by sworn members only. The authorized knit cap is a component of the fall/winter field uniform and will be worn after 01 November to 30 April or when weather conditions drop below 40 degrees. The knit cap will be worn in conjunction with the seasonal field unifonn. 2. The knit cap will not be worn with:

a. Prescribed wool uniform b. BDU or riot gear c. authorized tie d. rolled-up or cuffed style e. any unauthorized modifications
