My story begins at where the classes are Heaven and the teachers are the senior angels and the students are junior angels.Doing flashmob with international friends is something memorable and as you are not doing that in your home country, it is totally different and the response you get is incredibly awesome. Wearing new T-Shirts, acute little red-heart clip on my head, maps and mobile in my hands and a camera man following my team while running in the streets like crazy gave me a feeling that I was in a Korean- Idol variety show. I can never forget the beauty of Korea & Keimyung University. Everyone loves spring, but fall was so beautiful where trees had their own colour. DREAM… lying thousands of miles away from my homeland was just a dream but International Study Centre gave me Fwings to fly and turned my dream into a reality. When I stepped into International Study Centre little did I realize that this place is going to shape up my under graduation path and sculpt me into a bold young woman. My journey to Mary Baldwin University, USA was an unexpected gift which was filled with beautiful memories and lessons. The journey made me to identify my freedom backed with responsibility. Mary Baldwin University is a new experience. The education system was so amazing and interesting. I could see the transformation of my thought process. It has broadened my views and perspectives on various social issues. Cross major subjects took me to paths that were less travelled by me. Every day was a new learning experience. I had a dream of performing our Tamil Folk Arts (Silambattam & Tamil Folk Dance) in a distant land and I was so happy to unleash my dream and being a representative of Tamil Arts in a foreign land. Traveling to various places alone made me a strong individual. The seed of social responsibility sown in Lady Doak College was nutured in Mary Baldwin. New Directions and Valley Mission made me to forget the diversities and appreciate the similarities as it taught me to be a humane being in an inclusive community. Lady Doak College has given me holistic education as it made me break the ceiling of my own untested potentials and unpolished skills. Never in my life did I think of getting an opportunity like this during my under graduate education. I realized that four walls do not make a graduate but experience to life skill does and I’m so happy to see Lady Doak College giving this kind of exposure to all students in some way or other. Finally, I can say that I have found a family there, a home away from my home. I thank our college management and the International Study Centre for making me live my dream.
