Administrative Appointments announced by McGill

A series of recent administrative appointments at the of California, San Diego have been announced by Dr. William McGill, UCSD Chancellor.

The appointments concern persons already on the UCSD staff plus several who will be new to the campus. Most are a result of the administrative reorganization in which several new vice were named by McGill last month.

Werner Lendenmann, Director of Programming and Analytical Studies at UCSD for the past two years, has been appointed Director of Planning for the campus. In this capacity, Lendenmann will operate for the Chancellor in all areas of planning for the campus.

Lendenmann is a retired navy officer and a 1943 graduate of the Naval . He joined the staff at UCSD in 1964. As Director of Planning he will oversee the operations of the Office of Planning and Analysis and the Budget Office.

Dr. Philip N. James, Assistant Vice Chancellor - Graduate Studies and Research for three years, has been appointed Assistant to the Chancellor at UCSD. In this capacity he will assist Chancellor McGill in research and analysis, correspondence, and supply background information dealing with campus and University problems.

James served for four years as a senior research scientist at the Systems Research Division of Technicolor Corporation before joining the UCSD staff in 1966. He received an S.B. degree with a major in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1954 and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois three years later. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Federation of American Scientists and Sigma Xi.

Mrs. Kathleen G. Douthitt has been appointed Coordinator of for UCSD. She will continue as head of the Academic Personnel Office which she has run since 1961. She has been on the San Diego staff for nearly 20 years serving as budget officer and assistant to the business manager to her present duties.

Frank R. Cvar, with the Berkeley campus and in the Office of the President of the University since 1957, has been appointed Accounting Officer for UCSD. He will serve as part of the staff of the Vice Chancellor - Business and Finance. His most recent assignment at University-wide was as Supervisor of the General Accounting Division of the Chief Accountant's Office.

Cvar is a graduate of the , Berkeley and a native of East Helena, Montana. He succeeds Joe Pastrone, Accounting Officer at UCSD for the past three years, who was recently appointed Assistant Chief Accountant for the Office of the President.

Lynn C. Naibert, Associate of and Financial Aids Officer for UCSD for two years, has been appointed Executive Dean of Student Affairs under the office of the Vice Chancellor - Student Affairs. Before joining the UCSD staff in 1967, Naibert served for seven years at Lincoln High School as scholarship counselor, gifted counselor, testing coordinator and chairman of the English Department.

He received an M.A. degree in Social Studies from the in 1960 and has done graduate work at San Diego State College.

Dr. Morton H. Shaevitz, Associate Director of the Student Affairs Counseling Office and Assistant of Psychology at the , has been appointed Counseling Center Manager at UCSD. In this capacity he will serve as Director of Counseling and Psychological Services under the office of the Vice Chancellor - Student Affairs.

Shaevitz received a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1963. While at Michigan, he served as a clinical psychologist in the Counseling Division, Bureau of Psychological Services and is currently a consultant with the Western Behavioral Sciences Institute.
