Application for a room at Lunds Studentskegård

History Lunds Studenskegård is Sweden’s only student hall of residence exclusively for female students and arose from two donations to Lund . Marshal of the Court Gustav Coyet donated money to the University in 1918 on the occasion of its 250th anniversary, with the aim of creating a home for less affluent students. Later on, Lilly Quennerstedt, the wife of ’s Vice-, donated a large plot of land adjacent to the Quennerstedt villa in 1927. Her aim was to create a home for female students. Funds for furnishing the building were collected with the help of crown princess Louise and the wives of the governors at the time in the twelve southernmost counties. The furniture was designed by Carl Malmsten and the textiles were delivered by Swedish Handicrafts. Lunds Studentskegård was ready in 1937.

Application criteria In order to be eligible to apply for a room, the applicant must already be enrolled as a full-time student at Lund University (LU) at the time of application. Please note that only certifiable credits can form the basis of an application. Applicants must intend to live for at least one year at Lunds Studenskegård (LSG), which means that a person who has less than one year of study left is not entitled to apply. Applicants must be full-time students (not in research studies) and have the intention of completing the majority of their studies at LU. Applicants must intend to reside full-time at LSG and not to use the room merely for overnight stays. Residents of LSG are expected to take part in the building’s traditions and to be involved in their living environment. This applies to everything from cleaning to organising parties. All residents are expected to join in the building’s maintenance days once per semester. A total smoking ban applies at LSG.

Basic rules for the allocation of rooms Rooms are allocated by the board after division of the applicants into three quota groups: applicants who are subletting a room at LSG at the time of application (quota group I), applicants with 90 credits or more (quota group II) and applicants with fewer than 90 credits (quota group III). The rooms are randomly allocated in quota group II and on the basis of credit rankings in quota group III.

Subletting a room Applicants who are interested in subletting a room through the building supervisor must state this in their application. Subletting is allowed when the primary tenant is studying abroad, taking authorised leave from studies or suchlike. Subtenants are prioritised for the following semester’s allocation of rooms.

The application is to be supported with: 1. A Ladok transcript or similar from a Swedish university or university college. This is to be signed by a public official of the university/college, such as the department secretary or study advisor (digital signatures are not accepted). Credits from abroad are to be converted and approved (signed) by a Swedish university in order to be transferable. 2. Copy of a paid semester fee/student card for the current semester.

The application is to have been received by the building supervisor by 15 May at the latest in view of the autumn semester and by 15 November at the latest in view of the spring semester. Late or incomplete applications are not considered. Please note that the application only applies for one semester. If the applicant is not allocated a room, a new application must be submitted for the next application round.
