The foreign section is also strong with many better singles and collections+accumulations from various areas, including the rest of Scandinavia and, indeed, China. Part of the auction is from a large estate from the landscape of Dalarna, originally housed in more than 100 removal boxes! This will be sold at this as well as in one or two forth- coming auctions. Finally there is an interesting section sports memorabilia including e.g items allegedly owned by the famous Swedish athletes Björn Borg and Ingemar Stenmark. We have endeavoured to make this an auction with very good content and at the same time limiting the number of lots offered. This is our second live stamp auction where you can bid online at the same time as the auction is conducted in our auction room. More information about this, and "covid-19 matters", can be found on the next page. Peter Johansen and Christer Svensson, with staff. Viewing / Visning: Svartensgatan 6, Stockholm, tel. 08-640 09 78 All lots are available for viewing Tuesday–Wednesday 25–26 May 10am–5pm, and during the auction on Thursday 27 May.

FREE THE SEVEN YEARS WAR PDF Daniel Marston | 96 pages | 25 Jul 2001 | Bloomsbury Publishing PLC | 9781841761916 | English | Oxford, England, United Kingdom The Seven Years War () - Strategy Game In the terms of the treaty, France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, The Seven Years War ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there. Inprior to The Seven Years War outbreak of hostilities, Great Britain controlled the 13 colonies up to the Appalachian Mountains, but beyond lay New France, a very large, sparsely settled colony that stretched The Seven Years War Louisiana through the Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes to Canada. The border between French and British possessions was not well defined, and one disputed territory was the upper Ohio River valley. The French had constructed a number of forts in this region in an attempt to The Seven Years War their claim on the territory. British colonial forces, led by Lieutenant Colonel George Washington, attempted to expel the French inbut were outnumbered and defeated The Seven Years War the French. However, his adversaries in the Cabinet outmaneuvered him by making the plans public, thus alerting the French Government and escalating a distant frontier skirmish into a full-scale war. The war did not begin well for the British. The British Government sent General Edward Braddock to the colonies as commander in chief of British North American forces, but he alienated potential Indian allies and colonial leaders failed to cooperate with him. On July 13,Braddock died after being mortally wounded in an ambush on a failed expedition to capture Fort Duquesne in present-day Pittsburgh.

  • Romania and Finland in the Aftermath of the Operation Barbarossa (1941)
View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE provided by Directory of Open Access Journals Revista Română pentru Studii Baltice şi Nordice, Vol. 2, Issue 2, 2010, pp. 249-284 ROM “ALLIES WITHOUT ALLIANCE” TO CONCERTED ACTION: ROMANIA AND F FINLAND IN THE AFTERMATH OF OPERATION BARBAROSSA (1941) Silviu Miloiu Valahia University of Targoviste, E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: This study describes the relationship between two small and lesser states joining the German attack against Soviet Union in an attempt to recapture the territories lost to Soviet Union in 1940. It is conceived as an in-depth analysis of the Romanian-Finnish relations based on the criticism of archival sources discovered in the Romanian, Finnish and British archives. Becoming “allies without alliance” almost overnight, the relations between the two countries acknowledged a quick shift from low profile bonds to an agreement based on a combination of balance of power and joint action. The aim was to remove the threat Russia was posing to the two countries and to increase their influence at a peace conference to be open following the expected defeat of their big neighbour. Romania was the advocate of closer ties between the two countries keeping in line with its search for influence rather than autonomy in its foreign relations, while Finland was more prudent consistent with its choice for autonomy rather than influence.

CENTRALANTIKVARIATET catalogue 80 POMMERN Books from and about Pomerania, from the library of Victor von Stedingk Introduction by Lars Victor von Stedingk Stockholm mmxv centralantikvariatet Österlånggatan 53 | 111 31 Stockholm | +46 8 411 91 36 www.centralantikvariatet.se | e-mail: [email protected] Bankgiro 585-2389 Medlem i Svenska antikvariatföreningen Member of ILAB Förord För 200 år sedan, i oktober 1815, lämnade de sista svenska soldaterna och ämbets- männen Svenska Pommern, som då i ungefär 170 år varit en svensk provins.
