This Division’s primary responsibilities include preventive maintenance, scheduling, service and repair of vehicles and equipment used by the Police, Fire, Construction and Public Works Departments in the most effective and cost efficient manner possible. Secondary responsibilities include making repairs to both water plant equipment, well houses and sewer lift stations. Participate in ice and snow control, and leaf maintenance as required.

Police Department:

The Police department purchased 2 new cars this year, replacing a marked unit that was in an accident and replacing the chief’s car which was handed down to the Lieutenant. They took possession of the old ambulance and converted it over to an Emergency services unit truck.

Public Works Department:

The Road Division purchased 1 new dump truck, 2 Leaf vacuums and 3 new leaf boxes for the changes in the leaf program for 2009. The division also purchased a new pavement roller to replace an ageing unit. The Grounds division purchased 2 new riding mowers that serve dual purposes. They will be used for cutting grass on Borough properties and for clearing snow in the winter from sidewalks and the center of town. The Water and Sewer Division purchased a 1 ton dump truck to replace an ageing unit and a material separator to replace an ageing unit. The Fleet division purchased a new pressure washer to be used in conjunction with the vehicle wash station. The Fleet Division also purchased a new welder to replace 2 ageing units.

Fire department:

The division will be performing preventive maintenance on the chief’s vehicle and the department pickup truck every 3000 miles. We will perform any emergency repairs needed to keep the fleet up and running at all times.

1. To Purchase a spreader storage rack for the third material spreader. Purchased 9/10/08 2. To Purchase a new desk top computer for keeping records. Purchased 5/29/08 3. To Purchase a new steam cleaner/power washer to be used in conjunction with the vehicle wash station for washing vehicles and equipment. Purchased and installed 12/18/08 4. To purchase a new Mig welder replacing a 12 yr old unit. 5. To purchase a new Arc welder replacing a 30+ yr old unit. Purchased 1 unit to replace item 4 & 5 9/10/08 6. To insulate and heat lower garages.

2009 Goals:

1. To purchase a material spreader storage rack for the 4th spreader. 2. To replace a 15 yr old shop compressor. 3. To purchase a new battery and charging system tester.
