Christ the King

n 1925, when the atheism of the Nazis and communists threatened the Christian world, the Church I decided to fight against these ideologies by emphasizing the sovereignty of Jesus Christ and his fi- nal triumph over evil and injustice. Since that crucial moment in the history of the world, the Church has closed each liturgical year with this great feast dedicated to Christ the King.

The Bible underscores the sovereignty of God over all of creation. It also says that the Kingdom of God is not like earthly kingdoms. The New Testament teaches us that the Kingdom of Christ is of an- other kind. The Kingdom of Christ is a kingdom of truth, justice and life. We can never make the Kingdom of God a reality in the world unless, first, it is a reality in our own lives. Jesus said: “the Kingdom of God is within you”.

To bring about the Kingdom of God within us we must: Pray – we must communicate with God dwelling within our souls. We must give that thing which we seem to hold most precious in our own lives to God, we must give God time. Not just any sort of time, not just the time that exists when we have nothing to do. We need to give God prime time. How else will we ever find the “kingdom of God within” except by taking the time to be with God?

Help – we approach the season of Advent. There is something about the season of the birth of Our Lord that reaches hearts and souls and causes them to remember those in need. Our God calls us to see that the needs of the poor are not seasonal. Our relationship with God cannot be seasonal. God’s call is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and visit the sick is “24 and 7”; that is, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Love and Forgive – the Kingdom of God is based on love and forgiveness. For us to find it within ourselves, we must first love and forgive ourselves. Usually it is easier to forgive others than it is to forgive ourselves. If we forgive someone else, there is a certain amount of credit we claim from that person. For us to agree to be loved and forgiven in our culture of personal independence is very, very hard.

One of our fascinations with royalty is the power, the privilege, the position, and the possessions which they appear to have, yet somehow these qualities seem to be in conflict with the values of a Christian life. But these are the very gifts which our Lord Jesus longs to give us if we allow him to be our King.

He gives us power; not the power to defeat our opponents or to control or manipulate the stock mar- ket. But the power of the Holy Spirit.

He gives us privilege. Not for special invitations to royal receptions, but the privilege to be called God’s children and His brothers and sisters.

He gives us position. Not the position of chairman of the board or a life of ease, but the position that comes with the promise of a permanent place in his kingdom.

He grants us the gifts of possession. Not a pocket full of money or unlimited charge accounts, but ra- ther, a relationship with Him through which we discover what truly is worth possessing.

Chrystus Krlem

Franciszek. Codzienność przynosi wiele okazji, aby spotkać Chrystusa w drugim człowieku. Oby kiedyś Chrystus skierował i do nas następujęce słowa: „Pójdźcie, błogosławieni Ojca mojego, weźcie w posiadanie królestwo, przygotowane wam od założenia świata! Bo byłem głodny, a daliście Mi jeść; byłem spragniony, a daliście Mi pić; byłem przybyszem, a przyjęliście Mnie; byłem nagi, a przyodzialiście Mnie; byłem chory, a odwiedziliście Mnie; byłem w więzieniu, a przyszliście do Mnie” (Mt 25,34-36).

Polskie Wiadomości Rekolekcje Adwentowe 2018 Polish Advent Mission St. Joseph the Worker – Wheeling

Prowadzący: O. Mateusz Kosior OP, Dominikanin

Sobota 1 grudnia 6:30 pm Msza św. z homilią, nauka rekolekcyjna i spowiedź święta do 9:00 pm

Niedziela 2 grudnia 4:00 do 5:15 pm spowiedź święta, 5:15 pm Msza święta z homilią, nauka rekolekcyjna i spowiedż święta do 8:00 pm

Poniedziałek 3 grudnia 6:00 do 7:00 pm spowiedź święta, 7:00 pm Msza święta z homilią, nauka rekolekcyjna i spowiedż święta do 9:00 pm

O. Mateusz Kosior OP, Dominikanin. Urodzony w Wyrzysku w województwie Wielkopolskim. Do Zakonu Braci Kaznodziejów (OP) wstąpił w 2008 roku.

«Sálvate a ti mismo».
