Excursion to The State Hermitage (main building) The Alpha and the Omega of Saint Petersburg – the Hermitage. This palace is infamous for its long queues as well as it is praised a lot for the gorgeous interiors and incredible pieces of art that are housed here. Many tourists come to St Petersburg simply to visit the Hermitage and some people say that visiting all of its 350 exhibition rooms would entail a walk of over 10 km. Excursion to Peterhof (Grand Palace and The Lower Park) Located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, 34 km from the Saint Petersburg, Peterhof looks as if it were from a fairytale book or some epic novel of past centuries. Time passed, the war was over and later the magnificent and enchanting Peterhof was constructed as a grandiose triumphal monument glorifying the greatness of Russia and the victory in the Great Northern War. Even now the glory of this palace shines and overwhelms its visitors, and you can become one of them by paying a visit to a former summer residence of House Romanov.

Countryside excursion to Pavlovsk (Palace and Park visit) Since there are so many palaces and grandiose architectural structures in Saint Petersburg, it is possible to get a little bit tired of their glimmer and shining and you may find yourself longing for peaceful nature and beautiful landscapes. And one of the Saint Petersburg suburbs can easily provide you everything that you long for and even more. This place was meant as a private residence for the heir to the throne Paul I from his mother the Empress Catherine II and bears today his name. Pavlovsky Park is one of the best landscape parks not only in Russia but also in Europe. A distinctive feature of this place is that most of its territory is an almost untouched landscape and only a small part of it is decorated with flower beds, an abundance of sculptures and well-groomed alleys. Due to its large territories and their beauty the exploration of the whole place may take some time that’s why the park is divided in 7 different zones with carefully ornamented pavilions in each of them. Besides the park you can also visit the Pavlovsky Palace in order to understand the spirit of the owner and the place itself better.

Excursion to Catherine Palace and Park (optional) Another jewel in the crown of Saint Petersburg suburbs has the name of one of the greatest Russian poets Alexander Sergeyvich Pushkin and houses one of the most picturesque palace and park ensembles among the former residences of the Russian Emperors. This place gives you an opportunity to feel as a member of a royal family, to dive into the lives of the Empresses that occupied this place long time ago and to witness the marvelous beauty of the Amber Room single-handedly. Most of the visitors can hardly believe that almost everything inside the palace is a result of a careful restoration, which was finished less than 10 years ago. This also applies to the legendary Amber Room, the undisputable precious gem of the Catherine Palace, that went through many hardships throughout its history especially during World War II. But despite all the hardships the Catherine Palace and the Catherine Park still shine brightly and nothing should stop you from visiting it.
