A Message from Councillor R. H. The Government are realising the value of the work being done by the Scout Movement a nd kindred organ isations, and, in a I ELECTRIC WASHERS recent circular addressed to Local Education Authorities, ask us (f and REFRIGERATORS to support such efforts by any means in ou•· power. This I am It sure we shall be pleased to do, but the help which the public can give is of even greater value. We can all take an interest in the II work; we can get our boys to join the Scout Movement; while some, I hope, will feel called to offer their help as a form of National Service of the greatest value for the younger generation in whom we base our hopes of a better world to come. R. H. HOWARTH. t UNDER THE CLOCK. AN INVITATION.

The Scouters of Sowerby Bridge District extend a he~rtyinvitation f A. Whitaker W. Whitaker to you to come and fraternise with them on all possible occasions during their special Scout Week. F.B.O.A. Watchmaker As may be seen from the messages of encouragement from eminent Consulting and I Jeweller men (for which we are very grateful), Scouting is of first importance in Dispensing Optician and Silversmith the work of reconstruction of a new world. Our need is for men -- and women too- to come forward as Scouters to assist in the training of "those upon whom much of the burden of reconstruction will rest." This need is local as well as national, and with our present officers being called Phone S.B. 81030 up for military service we sadly run the risk of being at a serious disadvan Repairs tage with troops inadequately staffed. It would, therefore, be most helpful for Appointments were prospective Scouters to come forward immediately to train while officers yet remain with us. Our need, too, is for boys to enrol as W olf Cubs and Scouts, and generally these are not lacking in coming forward. We wish to acknowledge the invaluable assistance of the Chairman, Always at your service At your service Members, and Officers of the U.D.C., in permitting us to use Crow Wood Pa rk; to the Service of Youth (Education Committee) for their co·opera tion: to the Trustees of Bolton Brow and Tuel Lane Methodist Churches for the use of their Sunday Schools; to the Regent and Electric Cinema 4 Cos. ; to the advertisers ; and all who have helped us in any way. r: PROGRAMME
