BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE: Joaquín Selgas is responsible for the Library Planning Unit at the Spanish Ministry of Culture since 2008. Among other tasks, his main duties include writing briefs and monitoring the functional aspects of construction projects and renovation of buildings of the State Public Libraries and the coordination of equipment projects as well. Since 2005 he works also as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities in Toledo where he teaches librarianship to humanities students. Between 2002 and 2008 he was Managing Director of the Regional Library of Castile-La Mancha (Toledo). Since 2003 he has been a member of the IFLA Library Building and Equipment Section Standing Committee; and between 2007 and 2009 he was member of IFLA Governing Board.
