HISTORY & OVERVIEW The Town of Bastrop was officially established on June 8, 1832 and is one of the oldest towns in Texas. The number of historic has earned Bastrop the title “Most Historic Town in Texas”. Located approximately 30 miles southeast of Austin with the Colorado River running through the town, Bastrop is known for loblolly pine trees that stretch over miles and miles. The diverse wildlife, scenic hills and amazing pine trees make Bastrop one of the most beautiful places in Texas.

EDUCATION Bastrop ISD serves nearly 11,000 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Paige, Red Rock, Rockne, and vast rural areas of Bastrop County.
