ABSTRACT PHINTENER, Marcelo de Jesus. The philosophical sources of thought Mauricio Tragtenberg: inventory and subsidies for the understanding of combat philosophy. Master's Dissertation in History of Philosophy. Department of Philosophy Graduate Studies Program in Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, 2021. This research, transformed into a dissertation, tried to inventory the theoretical- philosophical bases of Tragtenberg’s thought, investigating traits of thinkers, in particular those of political philosophy who, in some way, were involved in the composition of his work. In turn, and given its great relevance, the investigation of the sources broadened the horizons of study by addressing two hypotheses: one rests on the idea of a political philosophy in Tragtenberg’s work, as the work place is pointed out as a political unit; another, it presupposes the existence of an interpretive framework for the capitalist exploitation of labour, based on concrete analysis, via the column “No Batente”. These three points are interconnected and complement each other in the purpose of the research, as they will highlight the philosophical bases of the author of revolutionary inspiration, not as contemplation, but as a “practical-critical” action. In the whole of his work, in which he proceeds so much with a critical view of capitalism, combined with an analysis of the ambiguities of workers' movements, the result of dialectical and assiduous readings of authors of political science and history, sociology and economics, literature and philosophy, and business administration, Tragtenberg goes from the popular to the classic, combining formal and informal knowledge, theory and practice. A thinker anchored in economic history and, above all, in the analysis of social relations of work and economic exploitation, examining its development in the history movement, always aware of its implications for workers’ standard of living, Tragtenberg, therefore, never lost sight of the real problems of life as a decisive aspect of society. After delineating the dissertation content, it was noticed that the research on screen opens, on the one hand, the first research on the author's ideas in the framework of philosophy; on the other hand, it contributes to the reflection about the relevant diversity in the historiography of political and philosophical thought, since such research, when investigating the trajectory of Tragtenberg philosophical influences, confirms it among the main Brazilian thinkers. Keywords: Tragtenberg; philosophical sources; political philosophy; social labour relations; workers. Jacques Camatte Community and Communism in Russia Chapter I Chapter II Chapter III Chapter I Publishing Bordiga's texts on Russia and writing an introduction to them was rather repugnant to us. The Russian revolution and its involution are indeed some of the greatest events of our century. Thanks to them, a horde of thinkers, writers, and politicians are not unemployed. Among them is the first gang of speculators which asserts that the USSR is communist, the social relations there having been transformed. However, over there men live like us, alienation persists. Transforming the social relations is therefore insufficient. One must change man. Starting from this discovery, each has 'functioned' enclosed in his specialism and set to work to produce his sociological, ecological, biological, psychological etc. solution. Another gang turns the revolution to its account by proving that capitalism can be humanised and adapted to men by reducing growth and proposing an ethic of abstinence to them, contenting them with intellectual and aesthetic productions, restraining their material and affective needs. It sets computers to work to announce the apocalypse if we do not follow the advice of the enlightened capitalist. Finally there is a superseding gang which declares that there is neither capitalism nor socialism in the USSR, but a kind of mixture of the two, a Russian cocktail ! Here again the different sciences are set in motion to place some new goods on the over-saturated market. That is why throwing Bordiga into this activist whirlpool

  • Routledge Handbook of Marxism and Post-Marxism
ROUTLEDGE HANDBOOK OF MARXISM AND POST-MARXISM In the past two decades, Marxism has enjoyed a revitalization as a research program and a growth in its audience. This renaissance is connected to the revival of anti-capitalist contestation since the Seattle protests in 1999 and the impact of the global economic and financial crisis in 2007–8. It intersects with the emergence of Post-Marxism since the 1980s represented by thinkers such as Jrgen Habermas, Chantal Mouffe, Ranajit Guha and Alain Badiou. This handbook explores the development of Marxism and Post-Marxism, setting them in dialogue against a truly global backdrop. Transcending the disciplinary boundaries between philosophy, economics, politics and history, an international range of expert contributors guide the reader through the main varieties and preoccupations of Marxism and Post-Marxism. Through a series of framing and illustrative essays, readers will explore these traditions, starting from Marx and Engels themselves, through the thinkers of the Second and Third Internationals (Rosa Luxemburg, Lenin and Trotsky, among others), the Tricontinental, and subaltern and postcolonial studies, to more contemporary figures such as Huey Newton, Fredric Jameson, Judith Butler, Immanuel Wallerstein and Samir Amin. The Routledge Handbook of Marxism and Post-Marxism will be of interest to scholars and researchers of philosophy, cultural studies and theory, sociology, political economics and several areas of political science, including political theory, Marxism, political ideologies and critical theory. Alex Callinicos is Emeritus Professor of European studies at King’s College London and was editor of International Socialism from 2009 to 2020. His most recent books are Deciphering Capital (2014), Bonfire of Illusions (2010) and Imperialism and Global Political Economy (2009).

• Jacques Camatte Origin and Function of the Party Form
Jacques Camatte Origin and Function of the Party Form General Premises The central thesis that we wish to state and illustrate is that Marx and Engels derived the characteristics of the party form from the description of communist society. We shall attempt to indicate methodologically as far as possible the link between the different works of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and the Italian left. We shall, in short, use all the elements from the Marxist school. Some points will, moreover, be indicated, but not studied fundamentally. The struggle of the embryonic proletariat in the French revolution led some revolutionaries (Varlet, Leclerc, Roux, i.e. the Enrages) to believe that the revolution could only benefit a category of people and that it was not universally liberatory. At the same time, however, the Egaux questioned the possibility of this revolution liberating humanity. Thus they proclaimed the need for a new revolution led in the name of reason (cf. Marx's critique in The Holy Family). The theory of the universal evolution of reason and of its role is in Hegel's system which completed the work of the French philosophers and the bourgeois revolutionaries. Moreover, the proletariat was growing in numbers and in its power in society when Marx entered the political scene. It was from Marx's and Engels's observations of the struggle of the proletariat that they gave birth to the idea that the enlightening solution was not the real, the true one, and they also saw that this solution was to be found in the proletariat's struggle. They understood that the question could not be resolved theoretically because the question, the emancipation of humanity, had not been posed practically since the bourgeoisie thought in terms of an abstract man in a category excluding the proletariat.

Daartegenover plaatsen we Andy Blundens’ analyse.

  • The Passion of Communism
Do not all uprisings, without exception, have their roots in the wretched isolation of men from the community [Gemeinwesen]? Does not every uprising necessarily presuppose isolation? Would the Revolution of 1789 have occurred without the wretched isolation of the French citizens from the community? It was intended precisely to abolish this isolation. But the community [Gemeinwesen] from which the worker is isolated is a community of quite different reality and scope than the political community. The community from which his own labour separates him is life itself, physical and mental life, human morality [Sittlichkeit], human activity, human enjoyment, human being. Human being is the true community [Gemeinwesen] of mankind. [...] A social revolution takes the standpoint of the whole because — even if it were to occur in only one factory district — it represents man’s protest against a dehumanized life, because it starts out from the standpoint of a separate real individual, because the community [Gemeinwesen], against whose separation from himself the individual reacts, is man’s true community, human being.1 1. • Introduction
Notes Introduction 1. Throughout the chapters, my comments on utopia are reliant on the work of Ruth Levitas (1990; 2003; 2005; 2007; 2013). Defining utopia in a non- restrictive manner, as the desire for a better way of being, Levitas has long argued that utopianism is everywhere, across popular culture, political debates, social thought, and she has insisted on utopian analysis as an indis- pensable method (as archaeology, ontology and architecture) for the human sciences. See, in particular, Levitas (2013). 2. In 1977 Althusser (1978) declared a ‘crisis of Marxism’. See Keucheyan (2013) for an analysis of the period of Left defeat, 1977– 1993. 3. For an insightful, accessible, mordant Gramscian analysis of the various ‘Princes’ before us at this moment – anti- globalist/Occupy, nationalist, reli- gious, austerity/ re- asserted neo- liberal – see Worth (2013). 4. For proximate treatments of this current, see, for instance, el- Ojeili (2003); Prichard et al. (eds) (2012); Rubel and Crump (eds) (1987); Schecter (1994; 2007). Schecter (2007), for example, brings together a range of thinkers and traditions – Marx, Western Marxism, critical theory, syndicalism, council communism, guild socialism, anarchism, the surrealists and the situationists, Italian workerism, and Foucault and Deleuze and Guattari – drawing out ele- ments from each as a way forward for a reinvigorated Left that must combine a critique of political economy with a critique of everyday life and bio- power. 5. As just one instance of this partial quality, we might remark upon the absence from this map of ‘impossibilism’. For a discussion of impossibilism, see Coleman (1987). Similarly, guild socialism, and its major thinker G.
