Ashik’s research interests include framing of political events in , news reception and credibility on online networks and entertainment use of user-generate sites. He has published a book chapter on the use of Facebook in the 2012 and another chapter the role of as a public sphere in Bangladesh. Courses taught includes: Research methods in communication and (COM 4210), Survey of Mass Communication (COM 1500), and Oral Communications (COM 1010). He worked as a newspaper reporter in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and as an intern at a think tank in Washington DC.
