The Helping Hands Hoagie sale is a major event in the district. Many students look forward to getting up early on Superbowl Sunday to make hoagies for an extremely good cause. This year’s event was a record breaking endeavor. Over 450 volunteers assembled and sold 5,900 hoagies to clear $48,000 to assist area families. All were record figures for the event. The hoagie sale happens in multiple locations throughout the area and goes through multiple phases, but people are interested the most in helping to make the hoagies. At this year’s hoagie sale there were many volun- teers who arrived bright and early hoping to get to have job offered, making the hoagies. With so many hoagie orders and so many helpers there wasn’t enough room in the cafeteria for all of the tables needed to make the hoagies, so set up in the band room, part of the gym and the hallway outside of the gym and cafeteria were more tables for students to sit at. The students at these tables make the hoagies in sort of an assembly line fashion. The girls swim team is looking to the future after finishing the season with a 2 and 7 record. Coach Jess Slates worked these girls hard all season. Although they only had two wins this season, their hours of practice earned them two wins of which she was very proud. The first was their win over Rancocas Valley with a score of 99 to 71 and the second win came on Jan. 27th with a final score of 108 to 62 over Seneca. Sadly the girls finished their season with a loss to Cherokee.
