Figy, chair of the Finance subcommittee, has been looking ahead to the budget season, taking into con- sideration the City Council’s current meeting restrictions, the Open Meeting Law viola- tions found in last year’s pro- cess, and the looming deadline of June 30 to pass a budget. Currently, the City Council is meeting remotely, with the meetings audio broadcast on Channel 15. Public participa- tion is possible only by emails sent in advance to councilors and read during that portion of the meeting. • Red Hot Chili Peppers Are an American Alternative Rock Band Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983
    1. INTRODUCTION The Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. For most of its career, the group has consisted of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, guitarist John Frusciante, bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary, and drummer Chad Smith. The band's varied musical style has fused traditional rock and heavy metal with various elements of funk, punk rock, hip hop, and pop. In addition to Kiedis and Flea, the group originally featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. However, Slovak died of a heroin overdose in 1988, resulting in Irons resigning. Irons was replaced briefly by D. H. Peligro, before the band found a permanent replacement in Chad Smith, while Slovak was replaced by an upcoming guitarist Frusciante. This line-up recorded the band's fourth and fifth album, 1989's Mother's Milk and 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a critical success and sold over twelve million copies. However, Frusciante grew increasingly uncomfortable with the band's success and left the band abruptly in 1992. Kiedis, Flea, and Smith employed Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction for their subsequent album, 1995's One Hot Minute. It failed, however, to match the critical acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and sold less than half the copies of its predecessor. Shortly afterwards, Navarro was fired from the band due to creative differences. Frusciante, while absent from the band, developed a severe drug addiction and nearly died. In 1998, he completed rehabilitation and, at Flea's request, rejoined the band.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Last Of The Mohicans "Kerrang!" ( 26 Aout 2000) - For the REDHOTCHILIPEPPERS, touring means herbal sex pills, plush tour buses and crowds of 20,000 people a night. It's a far cry from the days of socks on cocks, rampant drug abuse and crashing cars for fun.. ANTHONY KIEDIS leans back in his chair, closes his eyes and lets the electric razor run gently across the side of his scalp. A gentle buzzing sound echoes through the toilet-cum-shower room and into the softly-lit dressing room next door. The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman is having his mohawk trimmed by tour manager Louis Matthieu. Kiedis' striking new coiffure is a relatively recent development. It's also one he shares with both hisband mates and the rest of the Chilis' road crew. "We were on tour in Australia," smiles the singer, tilting his head forward to allow Louis access to the nape of his neck. "Life was good and times were fun, and we were bonding as a band. One night, sitting around with Flea and John, we made a pact to get mohawks - to go 'hawk - when we were back in the States. So we did, and it just became contagious. Suddenly, 10 people in our crew had mohawks. It was just a pact we stayed true to." As he speaks, bassist Flea wanders in from the dressing room wearing nothing but a pair of white briefs. "Hey louis," he barks, "do you know where the rest of my underwear is?" "It was laundry day yesterday," replies Louis without looking up.

  • Place and Punk: the Heritage Significance of Grunge in the Pacific North West
Place and Punk: The heritage significance of Grunge in the Pacific North West William Kenneth Smith MA By Research University of York Archaeology May 2017 Abstract Academic institutions and the heritage industry are now actively seeking to understand the wider social, cultural and economic processes which surround the production and consumption of popular music histories. Music is a local creation; it is created through a flux of internal and external influences, and is bound up in questions of economy, networks, art, identity and technology. In the early 1990s the Pacific North West of the United States of America gave birth to what became known as the musical genre of ‘grunge’. It developed into a distinctive genre, presenting a style and sound which propagated within the confines of a specific time and place. As construction sites continue to emerge throughout the Pacific North West, the impact of music still provides an essential contribution to the regions character and culture. Despite this, countercultural pasts are vulnerable; not only to the passage of time but also the processes of development, gentrification and marginalization. This research explores the heritage significance of the Pacific North West punk scene. It presents a historiography of punk and an appraisal of the scholarly discourse surrounding place. This study utilizes artifacts, sites and oral histories to explore countercultural material and memories as well as the form and function of punk. Themes such as geography and environment are enfranchised into the discussion as ethnography and multidisciplinary approaches are applied to make a unique contribution to what is an essential and timely discussion regarding people, culture, heritage and place.

Red Hot Chili Peppers- Confessions Of Sir Psycho "Rolling Stone" (n°679 - 07 Avril 1994) - Kim Neely You might not even notice the photograph if Anthony Kiedis hadn't pointed it out, surrounded as it is by dozens of others. But on closer inspection, the old black-and-white image that graces one wall of the singer's Hollywood Hills, Calif., home has a haunting, timeless quality that sets it apart. A trio of teen-age boys decked out in surf-punk gear, eyes lit by possibility and all- for-one, one-for-all camaraderie: Kiedis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and the late Hillel Slovak, the Peppers' first guitarist, captured in mid-goof-off by a Hollywood street photographer more than a decade ago. It's difficult to look at the photograph without imagining that the spirit that lent it such poignant resonance is guarding the house and all who pass through its doors. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have weathered numerous traumas since that photograph was taken - Slovak's death by heroin overdose in 1988; Kiedis' struggle to overcome his own heroin addiction; and the abrupt departure of guitarist John Frusciante in 1992 during the most successful year in the band's history - but always, through a career spanning 11 years, six albums and one EP, they've persevered. Last year, the Red Hot Chili Peppers found themselves facing yet another hurdle. During early attempts to write songs for a new album with guitarist Arik Marshall - who had stepped in just prior to the Chili Pepper's Lollapalooza '92 outing to pinch-hit for the departed Frusciante - it became apparent that, as Kiedis puts it, "the emotional connection you need with a new person in your band" wasn't there.

Kiedis’s history is investigated through the lens of Erik Erikson’s theory of identity development. Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) as a means to platform the psychobiographic methodology, this study explores Kiedis’s creativity and writing as intrinsic aspects of his identity. In addition, the analysis attempts to understand how Kiedis resolved his identity crises, and puts forward a presentation of Kiedis’s subjective experiences of his identity development. Through this in-depth analysis, the study concludes that Kiedis is engaged in an infinite moratorium, and in so doing demonstrates the value of using the combined methods of IPA and psychobiography to understand the human condition. Psychobiography and phenomenology have the same Anthony Kiedis is the lead singer, lyricist and frontman underlying intention: the qualitative study of individual of the band the Red Hot Chili Peppers. GUITAR ONE, AOÒT 99 RED HOT ONCE AGAIN ! par Dale Turner "Every time you put on a record or a CD," guitarist John Frusciante explains, "it's a dimension in time; it's a piece of time that's suddenly moved from one dimension to another. A moment in 1927, or a series of moments that accumulated into being one song in 1967, suddenly appears again in 1999 because I press a button. That's like dying and waking up in another world." Truth be told, Frusciante, who first joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers back in 1988, only to leave the band mid-tour in 1992, did almost die, but he woke up in this world to return to the Pepper fold with a vengeance. What many regard as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "classic lineup" - Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Flea (bass), Chad Smith (drums), and John Frusciante (guitar) - spent the summer of '98 jamming in Flea's garage, and the rest of the fall and winter writing and recording Californication: an album unmistakably akin to the band's 1991 breakthrough, BloodSugarSexMagik. If Pepper fans were surprised to hear that John Frusciante would once again be playing alongside Flea and company, they couldn't have been any more surprised than the guitarist himself, who just a few short years ago would 've been the last to predict such news. Back in May 1992, in the middle of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' tour of Japan, and with a stint on Lollapalooza II lurking on the horizon, John Frusciante suddenly decided it was time to pack up and go home.
