Travel Information Services

We've teamed up with PennDOT to make it easier to keep drivers informed and safe on Pennsylvania roadways. The PA Turnpike and PennDOT are working together to provide a one-source solution for travel information in Pennsylvania through 511PA. We will be retiring the existing Turnpike TRIP Program in the spring of 2020 and all travel information services for the PA Turnpike will be provided through 511PA. 2 PA Turnpike All-Electronic Tolling

PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE is the license plate tolling system introduced in 2016 for all-electronic tolling points. Traditional cash customers traveling through a cashless tolling point will receive a PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE invoice. E-ZPass customers will be billed as usual.

How Does it Work and Where Can I Use It?

PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE is available at all tolling points on the PA Turnpike. More information can be found on our website, www.nocashzone.com.

High-speed cameras mounted overhead on the tolling facility capture license plate images as vehicles pass through at posted speed. The registered owner of the vehicle receives an invoice for all trips made through the tolling point. Tolls can conveniently be paid online, by phone and through the mail.

From Labor Day to Memorial Day, all over-dimensional movements must travel between sunrise and sunset Monday to Friday, and between sunrise and noon on Saturday.

ESCORT VEHICLE is REQUIRED in ADDITION to the PERMIT:

• Total vehicle length of 90-160 feet requires a company escort. Total vehicle length of over 160 feet requires a company and PSP escort. • Total vehicle width is over 11 feet • Total vehicle width over 11 feet 6 inches between (115) Wyoming Valley Ramp and (131) Clarks Summit Ramp • Total vehicle width over 11 feet 6 inches on Turnpike 576, 43, 66 and I-376 • Bumper overhang of 5 feet front or 15 feet rear • Or at the discretion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission due to safety concerns

Special Hauling Permit System for Overweight/Over-dimensional vehicles at Select Locations

The PA Turnpike Commission Implemented a New Special Hauling Permit System for Overweight/Over-dimensional vehicles at select tolling points across the system. Effective Jan. 5, 2020, the PA Turnpike launched a new process and permit fee schedule for all customers using these permits at select tolling points across our system (the initial all-electronic tolling point locations). As of January 2020, these locations are: Gateway Mainline Toll Plaza, Beaver Valley Express- way (PA Turnpike 376), Findlay Connector (PA Turnpike 576), Greensburg Bypass/AKH (PA Turnpike 66), Delaware River Bridge, Clarks Summit and Keyser Avenue. Significant changes for customersat these locations only include

• All customers applying for a Special Hauling Permit for Overweight/Over-dimensional vehicles must pay a new permit fee online using a credit card or ACH when the application is submitted • All customers must print and carry a printed copy of the approved permit • Tolls will be assessed electronically as customers travel the system. There is no need to stop to process permits or pay tolls. • Tolls will be charged to your E-ZPass account or, if you do not have E-ZPass, an invoice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle through the PA Turnpike Toll By Plate system. • All customers must apply for a permit within five days of the anticipated travel day.

While the fees for overweight and over-dimensional haulers at these locations are new, the toll rates have been adjusted so that the overall costs are comparable to those of existing Class-9 toll rates.
