PLEASE BE ADVISED that a full closure and detour of the Pennsylvania Turnpike – I-476 will be in effect from the Allentown Interchange (A-56) to Mahoning Valley Interchange (A-74) beginning Friday, September 6th at 9:00 PM, and continue through Monday, September 9th at 4:00 AM. During this time, both northbound and southbound traffic from the Turnpike will be following a posted detour. Please see the attached map for a complete look at the detour.

Construction activities for the superstructure replacement of a mainline bridge that crosses over SR-309 will take place around the clock until the roadway can be re-opened to vehicular traffic. Access will be completely restricted for all traffic, including emergency services vehicles, from milepost 56 to milepost 74. Emergency services vehicles will not be permitted to access the Turnpike during the closure without implicit permission of the Turnpike Traffic Incident Management Coordinator, Todd Leiss.

In addition, SR-309 in South Whitehall Township will be closed between Chapmans Road and Snowdrift Road during the Turnpike bridge replacement work. The SR-309 closure will be implemented between 7:00 PM Friday and 6:00 AM Monday. The attached posted detour will be in place for SR-309 traffic.

In the event of inclement weather or adverse unforeseen conditions that would prevent work starting on the evening of September 6th, the backup dates for the weekend closure will be from 9:00 PM, Friday September 13th through 4:00 AM, Monday September 16th.
