What happens to paint? Waste paint is transported to a specialised treatment facility where it is sorted into water based and solvent based paints for further processing. Solvent based paint is used for energy recovery and the packaging is recycled separately.

Why should I recycle batteries? Batteries are a risk to human health and the environment if disposed of inappropriately. They also contain valuable metals such as cadmium, zinc, manganese, cobalt and rare earth metals that can be recovered to reduce the use of fi nite natural resources.

Why should I recycle fl uorescent lights? Fluorescent lights contain a small amount of mercury. This is an added risk if you accidentally break one. Correct disposal reduces the accumulation of mercury in landfi lls which can cause environmental concern.
