At second light in town, go left on 118 (Sunoco Gas on left). At first light go right onto Beaufort Street. Go through one light. Before second light, go left on Barnwell Avenue. New Vocations Show Specifications Eligibility

Classes and divisions are open to only. A “Thoroughbred” is a Thoroughbred that has been registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred book recognized by The Jockey Club. All Thoroughbreds must have The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) numbers on entry form. For more information and to register Thoroughbreds with T.I.P. for free visit www.tjctip.com.

Junior – Junior classes and divisions are open to riders 18 years of age and under as of 12/1/21. Senior – Senior classes and divisions are open to riders 19 years of age and older as of 12/1/21. AA – Open to Adult Amateurs only. For details on what constitutes Amateur status, please visit www.usef.org. Open – Open to any rider.

A prize will be awarded for each special award at the Sept. 3 Exhibitor Welcome Party. Additionally, each New Vocations graduate will be presented with a specialty award. To be eligible, Thoroughbred information must be submitted with entry.

Specifications

Hunter, Jumper, Equitation, English &

Special (2’6”), Suitable (2’9”) and Low (3’0”) Hunters

Hunter Divisions consist of 3 classes 2 over fence and one U/S. See class list above for rings/days for each division. The Junior and AA Divisions over-fences classes and Derbies may run concurrently at the same height, open card. Horses may not be cross entered in the Special, Suitable and Low Hunter Divisions. Horses are limited to seven (7) over-fences classes per day, regardless of discipline or rider. Warm-up classes and hunter classes do not count toward daily maximum of over-fences classes. Total number of classes per day per horse may be limited at the discretion of the judge or Show Management.

Special Hunter Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Horses may not cross-enter into any class where fences are 2’9" or higher. Fence height 2’6”.

Suitable Hunter Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Horses may not cross-enter into any class where fences are 3’0” or higher. Fence height 2’9".

Low Hunter Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Fence height 3’0”.

Hunter Derbies Offered at 2’6”, 2’9” and 3’0”. Two-round format with the first round to be typical hunter classic course with two (2) higher option fences and the second round to include “handy”-type questions. Both scores will be combined to placings. The class will be conducted using three fence heights, but awards will be offered for the Junior/Amateur as one class (1-10) and the Open as one class (1-10). There is no jog. Questions may include, but are not limited to, halt on course, trot fence, roll , negotiating natural obstacles, etc. Cannot cross-enter Hunter Derby Divisions (must declare either Open or Jr/AA). Riders may ride more than one horse in the Derby, but may not ride more than one per fence height. Riders must be entered in the class no later than 12 PM on Saturday, Sept. 4. Ribbons 1st through 10th. Payouts: $225, $125, $75, $50, $25

Ground Poles, Crossrail Hunters, Very Green Hunters (2’0”), Beginner Hunters (2’3”) & Equitation

Hunter Divisions consist of 3 classes. Equitation classes are stand alone and not a division. See class list above for rings/days for each division. The Junior and AA Divisions over-fences classes may run concurrently at the same height, open card.

Ground Poles - Open to any Junior or Adult Amateur rider who has never shown at a canter over a course of fences 18” or higher. Riders must ride a Thoroughbred. This is a walk trot class, cantering is not permitted, rider is not permitted to cross-enter in any jumping classes.

Crossrails Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Trotting is permissible. Horses not eligible to jump over 2’0”. Horses may by cross-entered in Very Green Hunter Division if they are eligible. Fence height 18”.

Very Green Hunter Divisions – Open to Thoroughbreds with limited show experience. Horses may not have shown 2’6” or higher. Trotting is permissible. Fence height 2’0”. Horses may be cross-entered in Crossrails and Beginning Hunter Divisions.

Beginning Hunter Divisions – Open to Thoroughbreds with limited show experience that have not shown 2’6” or higher. Horses may not cross-enter into any class where fences are 2’6” or higher. Horses may be cross entered in Very Green Hunter Division. Fence height 2’3”.

Mini Classic – Riders must have shown in at least two (2) over-fences hunter or equitation classes at the show (warm-up classes included). Exhibitor’s fence height to be determined by the highest division competed in as a horse-and-rider combination on Friday or Saturday. The class is a two-round format. The top 15 scores will return for a second round; final placings will be determined by the culmination of both scores. The class will be conducted using three fence heights, but it will be pinned as one class. There is no jog. The class is based on performance, hunter pace, jumping style, quality, substance and movement. Fence heights: crossrails, 2’0” and 2’3”.

J/AA Crossrails Equitation – Open to any Junior or Adult Amateur rider who has never shown at a canter over a course of fences 2’0” or higher. Riders must ride a Thoroughbred. Trotting is not penalized. Cantering is permitted on the flat in small groups of 5 or less. Fence height: 18”. Horses not eligible to jump over 2’0”.

Equitation 12 and Under – Open to any rider age 12 and under riding a Thoroughbred. Riders not eligible to jump over 2’0”. Fence height 2’0”.

Jr/AA 2’3” Equitation – Open to Junior and Adult Amateur riders on a Thoroughbred. Riders not eligible to jump over 2’3". Fence height 2’3”.

Jr/AA 2’6” Equitation – Open to any Junior or Adult Amateur rider on a Thoroughbred. Riders not eligible to jump over 2’6". Fence height 2’6”.

Jr/AA 2’9” Equitation – Open to any Junior or Adult Amateur rider on a Thoroughbred. Fence height 2’9”.

Halter, Pleasure & Western

W/T Junior – Open to any Junior rider riding a Thoroughbred to be shown both ways of the ring at the walk and trot. Judged on the English horse’s way of going and manners at the walk and trot.

W/T/C English Pleasure Junior – Open to any Junior rider riding a Thoroughbred to be shown both ways of the ring at the walk, trot and canter. Judged on the English horse’s way of going and manners at the walk, trot and canter.

W/T English Pleasure Senior – Open to any Senior rider riding a Thoroughbred to be shown both ways of the ring at the walk and trot. Judged on the English horse’s way of going and manners at the walk and trot.

W/T/C English Pleasure Senior – Open to any Senior rider riding a Thoroughbred to be shown both ways of the ring at the walk, trot and canter. Judged on the English horse’s way of going and manners at the walk, trot and canter.

W/T Equitation Junior – Open to any Junior rider riding a Thoroughbred to be shown both ways of the ring at the walk and trot. Judged on the rider’s position and ability to use correct and effective aids.

In-Hand and Special Flats

War Horse In-Hand– Open to Thoroughbreds that have raced at least 50 times OR won over $100,000. Will be judged on conformation and way of going at a walk and trot in hand. Placed horse’s statistics will be announced. Cannot cross-enter with In-Hand Classes. Minor blemishes and faults not considered. Horse should be presented in a bridle.

Leadline – Open to children 6 years of age and under riding Thoroughbreds. Riders will be judged , hands, seat, legs and position.

In-Hand Mares – Open to Thoroughbred mares. Mares will be asked to walk and trot. Judged on conformation and way of going. Minor blemishes and faults not considered. Horse should be presented in a bridle.

In-Hand – Open to Thoroughbred geldings. Geldings will be asked to walk and trot. Judged on conformation and way of going. Minor blemishes and faults not considered. Horse should be presented in a bridle.

Western-Type Halter – Open to any Thoroughbred. Horses will be asked to walk and jog, and will be judged on conformation and way of going as a Western-type horse. Minor blemishes and faults not considered. Horse should be presented in a halter.

Maiden Horse Pleasure W/T/C or W/J/L – Open to Thoroughbreds that have not won first place in any flat class in their show career. To be judged on way of going at a walk, trot and canter under English tack or walk, jog, lope under western tack.

War Horse Pleasure W/T or W/J – Open to Thoroughbreds that have raced at least 50 times OR that have won over $100,000. To be judged on way of going at a walk and trot under English tack or walk and jog under western tack. Horses can cross-enter into other Pleasure classes. Horses may not jump above crossrails.

War Horse Pleasure W/T/C or W/J/L – Open to Thoroughbreds that have raced at least 50 times OR that have won over $100,000. To be judged on way of going at a walk, trot and canter under English tack or walk, jog, lope under western tack. Horses can cross-enter into other Pleasure classes.

Adopted Horse Pleasure W/T/C or W/J/L – Open to Thoroughbreds that have been adopted thorough an adoption program. Proof of adoption is required. To be judged on way of going at a walk, trot and canter under English tack or walk, jog, lope under Western tack. Horses can cross-enter into other Pleasure classes.

Schooling Jumpers (3’0”), Training Jumpers (3’3”), Open Jumpers (3’6”)

Jumper Divisions consist of 2 classes. Jr and AA over-fences classes and Stakes may run concurrently at the same height, open card. Horses are limited to seven (7) over-fences classes per day, regardless of discipline or rider. Warm-up classes and hunter hack classes do not count toward daily maximum of over-fences classes. Total number of classes per day per horse may be limited at the discretion of the judge or Show Management.

● Open Jumper Division – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Fence height 3’6”. ● Training Jumper Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Fence height 3’3”. ● Schooling Jumper Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Fence height 3’0”. ● Suitable Jumper Divisions – Open to all Thoroughbreds. Horses Jumping 2’9” may not jump 3’3” or higher. Fence heights: 2’6”, 2’9”. If the rider is clear they stay in the ring after finishing the first course. Cannot cross enter Low Jumper Stake divisions. Riders may ride more than one horse in the Low Jumper Stake, but may not ride more than one horse per fence height. Riders must be entered in the class no later than 12 PM on Saturday, Sept. 4. Ribbons 1st through 10th. Payouts: $225, $125, $75, $50, $25

$500 Jumper Stake Junior/Amateur – Open to Thoroughbreds ridden by a Junior (under 18 as of 12/1/21) or Amateur rider who has shown in at least two (2) jumper classes on Friday or Saturday. Fence heights: 3’0”, 3’3” and 3’6”. A clean round will return for jump-off. Cannot cross enter Jumper Stake divisions. Riders may ride more than one horse in the Stake, but may not ride more than one horse per fence height. Riders must be entered in the class no later than 12 PM on Saturday Sept. 4. $500 Jumper Stake Open – Open to Thoroughbreds and riders who have shown in at least two (2) jumper classes on Friday or Saturday. Fence heights: 3’0”, 3’3” and 3’6”. A clean round will return for jump-off. Cannot cross enter Jumper Stake divisions. Riders may ride more than one horse in the Stake, but may not ride more than one horse per fence height. Riders must be entered in the class no later than 12 PM on Saturday Sept. 4. Ribbons 1st through 10th. Payouts: $225, $125, $75, $50, $25

SHOW INFORMATION

ATTIRE Jackets will be worn for the hunter and equitation classes in the show rings. Rider will be allowed to show in tucked in shirts in the jumper ring. Inclement weather may affect attire requirements.

DOGS All must be under control at all times while on the show grounds. Unrestrained dogs create a serious safety hazard for exhibitors and their horses. Loose dogs will not be tolerated in the show ring area. They will be impounded and the owner will be charged a $100 fine added to their entry fee which will be donated to the SPCA.

ELECTRICAL/FIRE REGULATIONS All electrical installation and connections must meet all state and county codes. Aisles shall be maintained clear for a minimum of six (6) feet wide by eight (8) feet high. No obstructions or projections shall be allowed in these aisles. No class I Flammable liquids, such as gasoline, are allowed inside the buildings. Cooking is not permitted within any stable area. Anyone in violation shall be subject to dismissal from further participation in the Horse Show without recourse.

FARRIER//PHOTOGRAPHER No farrier/veterinarian/photographer other than those contracted with the official competition will be permitted to practice on the grounds without express permission of the management. Exhibitors wishing to use another farrier/veterinarian/photographer must request a permit at the Horse Show Office.

FOOD Food service will be available on the grounds beginning the day of the show through Sunday.

LUNGING No lunging permitted in the show rings. Lunging only in designated areas.

MINOR EXHIBITORS Parent(s) or guardian(s) of a minor child shall hold the horse show management and the facility harmless for any injury to such minor. No minor child’s entry will be accepted or number issued unless entry is signed by a parent or LEGAL guardian. The signature of unrelated persons WILL NOT be accepted.

MOTORIZED VEHICLES/GOLF CARTS Unlicensed drivers are not permitted to operate any motorized vehicles, ATVs, motorcycles, golf carts, etc. on the show grounds. Failure to abide by these regulations will subject the exhibitor to suspension from the horse show.

PADDOCK Available first come, first served. $100 per show weekend. Limit 1 per trainer.

PARKING Fire regulations all vehicles, including trailers, vans and campers from being parked in the stable areas. Vans and trailers will be allowed in the stable area only to load or unload. PARKING AREAS WILL BE DESIGNATED AND VIOLATORS WILL BE TOWED AWAY AT OWNER’S EXPENSE AND FINED $100.

POLING AND OFFSETS Manual poling and use of bamboo offsets are prohibited for all horses competing. Any rider, trainer, groom, or any other person who is in violation of the rules set forth above will be fined $500 for each incident and may be suspended from further competition for the duration of the scheduled competition starting from the time of the incident. Any horse upon which a violation of the manual poling and/or use of bamboo offsets rules is perpetrated will be suspended from competition for the duration of the scheduled competition. All entry fees for the classes entered during the suspended period of the horse in question will be forfeited.

PRIZE MONEY The owner of any horse or exhibited in classes where prize money is awarded MUST provide a Social Security or Federal ID number on the entry. Foreign Exhibitors must fill out a W-8ECI or W-8BEN form prior to receiving any winnings. Prize money may be applied as a credit on your account at the show office. Checks may be mailed within 30 days after the show.

PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR Everyone must wear properly fitting ASTM protective headgear with harness secured and properly fitted while riding in the designated schooling and exercise areas, the show ring and while jumping anywhere on the show grounds. It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the junior exhibitors to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards and is properly fit-ted and in good condition.

RV HOOK-UPS First come, first served, SEE ENTRY No nightly rates.

SCHOOLING Schooling in the show rings without permission is prohibited at all times. $100 fine for anyone caught in the rings before or after the show if rings have been closed. Some rings will be available for schooling after the show each day. Closing times will be announced each day. The rings will be available in the mornings until 30 minutes before start time. Management may restrict schooling in any ring if conditions warrant.

HORSE WELFARE Horses may not enter more than 7 classes over fences per day, including equitation and all special classes.

ENTRIES Entries will only be accepted online at horseshowsonline.com. Numbers will not be issued without a credit card logged with the horse show secretary. The entry form must include:

• Horses’ name & complete description. • All classes or divisions entered. • Organization membership numbers. • Social Security or Federal ID number of owner. • All mandatory signatures, including legal guardian in the case of a minor exhibiting.

STABLING Stall reservations must be guaranteed with a check or credit card. Stabling will be available the day before the show. Stalls are available first come, first served. Reserve stalls early! CHECK OUT Any horse show bills not checked out at the conclusion of each show will be assessed a $25.00 FEE for check out. Any mistakes at checkout must be resolved within 24 hours. Check your bills carefully.

COMPETITION OFFICE HOURS Competition days - Opens one hour before the start of the first class and closes 30 minutes following the last class. Non-Competition days - 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

DAMAGE All owners and exhibitors shall be held responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents or employees to stalls, buildings, and other properties on the show grounds, and shall be billed accordingly. (This includes screw or nails in stalls.)

DAY EXHIBITORS/NON-STABLING Horses entered but not stabled must use the designated area for day exhibitors. $50.00 grounds fee per horse and a $25.00 service fee per horse per show.

FEED AND BEDDING , grain and bedding may be purchased on the grounds. For same day delivery, orders must be received prior to 12 noon. No Sunday deliveries. For feed and bedding reservations prior to arrival, please call 803-649- 3505 or e-mail [email protected]. Deliveries other than that made through the horse show office are not permitted. You may bring your own.

NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $30 or 10% of the check amount, whichever is greater. Upon notification of a returned check, accounts will be given three (3) days to make full payment, including the penalty, which must be paid in certified funds, cashier’s check or money . Overnight mail service is advised in order to avoid notification of the sanctioning organizations for disciplinary action.

NON-SHOWING HORSE All non-showing horses must have a signed entry blank in the office, $30.00 non-showing fee and $26.00 service fee per horse per show.

REFUNDS Full refunds will be given before the closing date of the stalls. After the closing date of stalls, stall fees are not refundable. After the show starts, with the official vet’s certificate only, full will be given minus the stabling fee and a $25.00 fee and fees for classes already held prior to notification of horse show secretary, whether exhibited or not. Scratches must be made in the horse show office on the official form. Refunds will be mailed within 30 days after the horse show.

SERVICE FEE All horses, showing or non-showing, will be assessed a fee of $26.00. This fee allows the horse UNLIMITED add/scratches from classes, access to schooling areas and rings at designated time and defers all charges for parking passes.

SPLITTING OF TACK STALLS The horse show office will split the tack stalls per the Trainers instructions among his/her customers up to each Saturday at 12:00 noon. At that point, the total amount will be billed to the trainer’s account.

SCRATCH FEE $25 Scratch Fee for cancellations after the start of the show.

CANADIAN EXHIBITORS The legend “US Fund” must be pre-printed on the face of all Canadian checks drawn on Canadian banks used to pay entry fees.

ADD BACK JUMPERS Paid back to top six places. Breakdown as follows: 30%, 25%, 20%, 10%, 10%, 5%. If there are less than six horses in a class, the entry fee drops to $10.00 with no prize money paid back.

ADD/SCRATCH No slip, no trip. You must enter your classes by 5:00pm the day prior to showing so that our Daily Agenda can be as accurate as possible. If you are not on the class sheet, you must add in the show office and bring the slip to the ingate. If you are scratching, you must also do this in the show office and bring your slip to the ingate. No adds on Sunday.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Horse Show Committee reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of, or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any . All questions not covered in these Rules and Regulations or PSJ Rules listed on our website shall be decided by the Horse Show Management; its decision to be final. The Horse Show Management reserve to itself the right to limit entries in any class, section or division, to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, and cancel award prizes, without any claim for damages; to change any course, to add a dotted line, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes, after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges, to change specifications in jumper classes as competitions warrants.

ADDITIONAL TERMS AND DEFINITIONS OF THE RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER AND INDEMNIFICATION In consideration for entry upon the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES of the COMPETITION, the undersigned on behalf of myself, my trainers, instructors, coaches, clients, agents, employees, grooms, invitees, representatives, assigns, executors, heirs, independent contractors (including but not limited to , farriers, masseuse, chiropractor, therapists, braiders, shippers), and, if applicable, on behalf of my minor child or children (hereinafter collectively referred to as “I”) agrees: Rules and Regulations Rules and Regulations I agree that COMPETITION as used in this entry blank, in the prize list and in the USEF rules means the Horse Show, each and every class and/or event conducted and ALL ACTIVITIES that I undertake AT ANY TIME and for any purpose upon entry of the 12

SHOW GROUND FACILITIES including any horse which is on the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES for my use, in my control or at my request. I further agree that COMPETITION includes the entire week of the horse show including the time horses and/or people are allowed to enter to set up, stable and/or conduct business whether its expressly and/or specifically related to the horse show and classes being conducted/ held that week through and including the time all horses and/or people vacate the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES. I agree that this Release of Liability includes any horse that I have asked to come onto the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES for any purpose, and/or is in my control and/or custody and regardless whether the horse is being stabled at the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES and/or competing in the COMPETITION. I agree that “RELEASED PARTIES” means the “Competition” known as the Progressive Horse Show, the “Horse Show Management” and/or “Competition Management” as referenced in the prize list, the Federation Licensee, Highfields, LLC, Highfields Event Center and each of their officers, directors, managers, members, owners, shareholders, employees, representatives, agents, subsidiaries, volunteers, officials, affiliated and associated persons, companies and organizations, assigns and entities or organizations as may now or hereafter be constituted, that own, are related to or manage the property owned by such entities. I agree that SHOW GROUND FACILITIES means Highfields Event Center including but not limited to all improvements, structures (permanent or temporary), buildings, tents, stalls, fixtures (including but not limited to all jumps and related equipment), arenas (and the footing therein) located on the premises and/or provided by RELEASED PARTIES during the COMPETITION. I agree that if I am not a member of the Federation that I will abide by all rules and regulations of the Federation. I agree that the Rules of the Prize List are incorporated as if set forth herein. Release and Waiver of Claims: I hereby fully and forever release, waive and discharge the RELEASED PARTIES and each of them who are or might be liable in any way from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of actions, liabilities of any kind which I may or might have against RELEASED PARTIES or any of them, arising from or by reason of any and all known and unknown, foreseen or unforeseen bodily and personal injuries, damage to property, injury to horse and any consequences thereof, which I may sustain due to the ordinary negligence of RELEASED PARTIES; I further agree that except for the gross negligence or willful misconduct of the RELEASED PARTIES, I SHALL NOT SUE or bring any legal action, claim, and/or demand against for any economic and noneconomic losses due to bodily injury, death, property damage and/or injury to any horse in relation to the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES and/or the operation and conduct of the COMPETITION. I agree this RELEASE INCLUDES ALL ACTIVITIES I PARTICIPATE IN AND ALL AREAS OF THE SHOW GROUND FACILITIES as defined above. This release also includes all activities I conduct at the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES and includes all times that I am at the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES no matter what the purpose and/or activity being undertaken. Hold Harmless: I hereby agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless RELEASED PARTIES from and against any and all claims, liabilities, loss, damages, demands, actions, causes of action, including attorneys’ fees, cost and expenses of any kind, which may be made against them, or any of them, which arise out of the active or passive negligence of RELEASED PARTIES while either I or any horse at my request or in my control is/ on the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES and/or participating in the COMPETITION. I agree to defend RELEASED PARTIES, at my expense, regardless if RELEASED PARTIES are negligent or not. Assumption of Risk: I hereby acknowledge and assume the risk that equestrian activity, including jumping, is very and involves the risk of serious injury and/or death and/or property damage. I expressly acknowledge that injuries may be compounded or increased by negligent maintenance of the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES, faulty or improperly secured equipment, improper supervision or compliance with Federation rules and regulations. Acts of God and negligent rescue operations or procedures of RELEASED PARTIES and negligent handling of horses and independent operations by trainers, riders and/or boarders who use the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES or others who are not affiliated with RELEASED PARTIES. I acknowledge that horses can be injured while being ridden, groomed, stabled, walked and/or exercised and I expressly assume the risk of injury to any horse under my control and/or custody or on the SHOW GROUND FACILITIES at my request. This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina with respect to all RELEASED PARTIES, except for the Federation as set forth on page one. I agree this Release extends to all acts of ordinary negligence of RELEASED PARTIES and is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law. If any portion of this Release and/or Entry Blank is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall continue in full legal force and effect. I have not relied on any oral representations or statements made that are contrary to or modify the above Release or warnings. I agree that by signing the front page of this Entry Blank that I am bound by the Release, waiver and warnings contained herein and that both sides/pages constitute one incorporated agreement. I agree I have the express authority to sign this entry blank/Release on behalf of the owner and/or rider. While every effort has been made to avoid mistakes in this publication, the USEF, Progressive Show Jumping, Inc. and its management assume no liability to anyone for errors. Any significant errors or changes will be disclosed to competitors whose entries are accepted upon their acceptance, and otherwise in accordance with USEF rules.
