ASHBROOK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL CODE 2021-22 Updated 7/21/21 Ashbrook strives to create a learning environment that is safe both physically and emotionally and ensures all students’ ability to fully participate in academic activities. The fosters a professional mindset that students are at school to learn and to help develop respect for self, others, and the school. The school’s standard is simply that be neat, clean, and appropriate to the program of the day. All clothing should be modest, good condition, fit properly, and free of unsafe accessories. Students who arrive on campus wearing inappropriate clothing will be asked to change.

Dress Code Guidelines:

Clothing Style Parameters Color Options

Beginning & Lower Middle School 5-8 School PS-4

Shirts Long sleeved or short sleeved polo/golf- Solid Navy , white Any solid color style or button down with a collar or Ashbrook green Small logos are Small logos are permitted permitted

Shoes Closed-toe or securely Any color fastened around the foot.

Indoor Light weight / made of fleece Solid Navy blue, white Any solid color or knit material. Must be worn over a dress or Ashbrook green or code shirt. grey. Small logos are permitted Hoods or may not be on in the Small logos are building permitted

PE Clothing:

● PS-4: Students change only their shoes which must be sports shoes with non-floor marking soles. ● 5-8: Students change into specific athletic clothing: t-shirt, sport shorts, fitness/, , non-floor marking sports shoes.

Friday Free Dress Day Dress Code Requirements:

● All students may wear either clothing or clothing of their choice which complies with the school’s standard that clothing be neat, clean, and appropriate to the program of the day. ● Clothing in varying colors made of denim and sport materials are allowed. ● All clothing should be modest, good condition, fit properly, and free of unsafe accessories. ● No holes in shorts/pants ● No bare midriffs ● Knee to mid-thigh length shorts/skirts ● Underwear should not be visible ● Hats or hoods may not be on inside the building. ● Body piercings other than earrings are not to be worn. ● Closed-toe shoes or sandals securely fastened around the foot ● All clothing must be opaque. Any clothing that is see-through must be covered by a piece of clothing that adheres to the rest of the dress code.

Special Dress:

● Students will be given guidelines if specific clothing is requested for field trips, concerts, plays, or athletic activities. ● Special Dress is to be worn only on the day of the event.
