Craft Sportswear and the Finnish National Biathlon Team Launches ‘Hannunvaakuna’ Racing Suit
Dec 03, 2015 08:00 CET Craft Sportswear and the Finnish national biathlon team launches ‘hannunvaakuna’ racing suit The collaboration between Swedish sportswear brand Craft and the Finnish national biathlon team has resulted in highly functional race garments with a truly strong presence. The new competition wear will be worn by Kaisa Mäkäräinen and her colleagues on the Finnish team during the 2015/2016 season. "We looked for something that would really set the suit apart from the competition," says Craft's designer Lena Karlsson. "Soon we came up with the 'hannunvaakuna', the looped square that is a common symbol in Finland and that conveys strength and good luck. Placing the patterns in lines that follow the moving body, we have created a suit that truly radiates speed and power." The new Finland Biathlon competition garments are based on Craft's revolutionary Podium Suit, which has been equipped with biathlon-specific details such as smooth rubber patches in certain areas to ensure steady and precise shooting. Made of very thin and lightweight Italian polyester, the suit offers superior moisture transport and body-temperature management. In addition, compression fabrics in the legs keep the muscles focused while ultrasonic taped seams create a smooth surface for optimal aerodynamics. The suit is packed with innovative features including Moving Wing Technology ™, which is a wing-like construction piece at the upper back that ensures total freedom of movement and allows the skiers to transmit all their power into each pole stroke. Furthermore, three-dimensional ergonomic design provides perfect fit and optimal comfort. Craft is a Swedish brand specializing in clothing for endurance sports where performance and comfort are crucial for a good result. -

During the war and for decades there- after, this style traveled across time and place, appealing to youths whose lives otherwise diverged. It turned up in wartime Great Britain and Aus- tralia, despite orders by their governments to conserve cloth for the du- ration. Bahamian farm hands, brought to Florida to pick crops, surprised their hosts by appearing in zoot suits. Canada had its own versions of zoot-suit unrest in the summer of 1944, and in occupied France, zazous sporting long coats and narrow trousers outraged officials. After the war, young people in other countries—from the stiliagi of the Soviet Union to the tsotsis of South Africa—picked up and adapted elements of an extreme style that had originated in American culture. The zoot suit was never a leading cultural product or intentional export of the United States in an era when the nation’s films, music, and consumer goods were reaching around the globe. Yet this seem- ingly ephemeral fashion traveled to many places during and after World War II. It is a telling example of a commodity that circulated 158 Chapter 6 without marketing campaigns and advertising but rather along ob- scure routes and through informal networks of influence—a process that has likely been more common than studies of consumer culture have recognized. -
Employee Dress Code Policy
EMPLOYEE DRESS CODE POLICY The following are guidelines regarding acceptable business attire for employees of Centenary University. The impression that we, as employees of the University, present to others is as important as serving as role models of professionalism for our students. The University has adopted a business casual dress code Monday through Thursday, and allows jeans to be worn on Friday for Centenary Spirit Day. Employees who prefer to dress in more formal traditional business attire should feel free to do so. Business casual wear encompasses many looks but it really means casual clothing that is appropriate for a professional office environment. It is clothing that allows you to be comfortable at work yet always look neat and professional. It means clothing that is clean, unwrinkled, and not too tight, revealing, or baggy. We ask that you consider each day’s activities when determining what to wear, as there are situations when traditional business attire may be required and is more appropriate. Your supervisor may exercise reasonable discretion to determine appropriateness in employee dress and appearance. Employees who do not meet a professional standard may be sent home to change. Business Casual Attire (Monday through Thursday) Listed below are examples of acceptable business casual attire: • Shirts: Shirts with collars, business casual crewneck or V-neck shirts, blouses, sweaters/cardigans, polo and golf shirts • Pants/skirts: Casual slacks, trousers, dressy Capri pants, skirts/dresses of appropriate length • Footwear: -
