Wednesday 17 June 2020 Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to you to explain why the sport cricket should be included in the Olympic Games. Cricket is an incredibly popular sport and should be a good addition to the sports already in the Olympics. I will provide you with good reasons as to why it should be included.

First and foremost, cricket has a huge fan base, being the second most watched sport on earth with over 2 billion fans. A total of 107 countries are playing cricket entertaining all their fans. You could find a cricket fan in every corner of the world. If it was in the Olympics we could notice a huge positive ascent in its global viewership. Millions of the fans will watch their favourite team playing on the international platform, making this sport hot property.

Secondly, cricket is gradually becoming one of the most loved sports in the world. Also, cricket could overcome football in popularity and development very soon. If women’s cricket was also included, it could well become the most watched women’s sport in the world. Due to the Olympics, other countries such as Canada, Russia, China and the US will be motivated to play more of the sport. And if more countries play cricket, it will become a bigger global sport.

My final reason is that one of the reasons cricket is not in the Olympics, is because it takes a huge amount of time to conduct a cricket tournament. But the T10 format would work as 10-over matches that wont take too much time to organise. The ICC could possibly plan a qualifiers tournament before the Olympics, and organise the quarters, semis and finals of the tournament. Alternatively, they could also plan a knockout league, to give every team a chance to feature on the best stage of them all.

To conclude, I believe the suggestion needs to be investigated further. I hope you agree with the reasons as to why cricket should be in the Olympics. I understand your next meeting is held within the month so I ask you to share my letter with them. Please inform me of your decision. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully Mr Bobbie.
