Relazione sugli eventi estremi del Gruppo intergovernativo di esperti sul cambiamento climatico (IPCC) PV\884490IT.doc PE476.075v01-00 IT Unita nella diversità IT Il presidente attira l'attenzione della commissione sulle conclusioni presentate nella sintesi per i responsabili politici della relazione dell'IPCC intitolata "Relazione speciale sulla gestione dei rischi di eventi estremi e di disastri per l'adattamento al cambiamento climatico". Riduzione dei finanziamenti per il clima Il presidente attira l'attenzione della commissione su uno studio secondo cui i tagli di spesa nei paesi industrializzati potrebbero ridurre di 22,5 miliardi di dollari i finanziamenti per il clima destinati ai paesi più poveri entro il 2015. Costo del mancato rispetto della legislazione ambientale dell'UE Il presidente annuncia che in una relazione di consulenza svolta per la Commissione europea si calcola che il costo di una mancata attuazione integrale degli obiettivi ambientali ammonterebbe a 50 miliardi di euro all'anno, compresi i costi sanitari e quelli relativi alle cause legali nei casi di violazione della legge. 3.     hello.im.lena www.35ppp.de/lena [email protected] #3 Meeting with my Mentor of the German Bundestag Soon it will happen. I still can't believe it. Since I am back from England, time passed (too) quickly. Last week my plane ticket came by mail and I became even more aware that I will soon be a year away from everything and everyone. Somehow a strange but also tingling feeling. Partly not knowing what to expect, around every corner there is a little adventure waiting - that is incredibly exciting. On 07/12/2018 my mentor from the German Bundestag Dr. Anja Weisgerber invited me to her constituency office and we talked a long time about the program and how my family and I feel. I became more and more aware of how much is really behind the PPP - broadening horizons, opening borders, getting to know people. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Weisgerber for giving me the opportunity to make these exciting experiences. (You can find out more about my mentor here) During the rest of my time in Germany I organized my international driver's license, made my appointment at the Frankfurt embassy for my visa and did so many little things that I can't think of. Together with my family (THANK YOU ♥), we also organized a little farewell party. I'm really looking forward to seeing (almost) everyone again and saying goodbye. Sure, it won't be easy for me, but after a year you have a lot to tell each other. And thank God there is still WhatsApp and Skype.

Signed: ______________________ Date: ________________________ 2 Abstract This research aims to provide a better understanding of the role of ideas in the policy process by not only examining whether, how, and to what extent ideas inform policy outcomes but also by examining how ideas might simultaneously be used by political actors as strategic discursive resources. Traditionally, the literature has treated ideas – be it implicitly or explicitly – either as beliefs, internal to the individual and therefore without instrumental value, or as rhetorical weapons, with little independent causal influence on the policy process. In this research it is suggested that ideas exist as both cognitive and discursive constructs and that ideas simultaneously play a causal and instrumental role. Through a process tracing analysis of Germany’s policy on European monetary affairs in the period between 1988 and 2015, the research investigates how policymakers are influenced by and make use of ideas. Using five longitudinal sub-case studies, the research demonstrates how ordoliberal, (new- )Keynesian, and pro-integrationist ideas have importantly shaped the trajectory of Germany’s policy on European monetary affairs and have simultaneously been used by policymakers to advance strategic interests.
