Im memorandum sent to Doug las on Tuesday, Mahler stated he had received a ruling from the Chancellor's Office which con tradicts a decision in the case of George Roberts v. A.S. Although the Courtdecidedthat the fining fee for student elec tions is illegal, the Chancellor's office said the "fee is in fact quite legal and within the juris diction of this corportation. "Your failure to attend this meeting will be an indication to me of your unwillingness to serve the interest of the Associated students and will be grounds for your immediate impeachment from this office," Mahler con cluded in the memo. Douglas, who said he will not be able to attend next Tuesday's Senate meeting because he has to work, answered Mahler in a me morandum: Memorandum "I was very upset to receive your ostentatious memorandum ... It is with irresponsible threats like yours, especially in your sta tus as a 'lame duck' president, that begins to make me aware of the full purpose for a judiciary independent of the executive and legislative brances of our go vernment.•• ''I am sorry to feel that you saw it fit to invite me to the A.S. Senate meeting of May 20 under threat of impeachment;• Douglas said. He said Mahler is making a "mountain out of a mole hill ..and that furthermore he cannot be im peached unless he has done some thing legally wrong; besides he is not subordinate to Mahler--he is independent of Mahler, Douglas added. "If anyone should be impeached it's Mahler for trying to coerce a decision out of the court for his own interests," Douglas said. "There are remedies in the constitution to go over the courts decision. Competing for the first time as a college division team (Valley State competed in the univer sity class in past seasons), the Mata dors compiled a sparkling 11-0 mark in the college level. In seven tournaments this season, the Matadors have placed in the top three among college-level entrants. Cullum is hopeful of earning an invitation to the National Collegiate Athletic Association college division Finals at Alberquerque, New Mexico in June.
