XVIII TERTIO MILLENNIO FILM FEST Program Wednesday 10th December 2014 – Cinema Trevi

Wednesday 10th December in the Cinema Trevi (vicolo del Puttarello 25), the second day of the XVIII Tertio Millennio Film Fest, organized by the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo.

Amongst the screenings on program, in first preview at 4.30pm Boko Haram – Convertitevi o morite by Riccardo Bicicchi. At the presence of the director, the film will be introduced by don Ivan Maffeis, President of the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo and of the Tertio Millennio Film Fest, by father Giulio Albanese, director of «Popoli e Missione», and by actress Anna Maria Iacopini. The documentary is a trip to North-east Nigeria, through the states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, in order to recount the tragedy of entire cities laid to waste by the militant Islamic movement Boko Haram and of people tortured, enslaved or fleeing from their homes, while yet another African holocaust is committed amidst the silence of the world. With the aid of unreleased images and direct testimonies, Boko Haram – Convertitevi o morite, gives voice to those who are victim of persecution, touching in first person the suffering, the fear and the sense of loss. Despair is not the prevalent voice though, as where there seems to be not even a glimmer of hope, dialogue still thrives. A lesson of coexistence between Islamic and Catholic dignitaries. The extraordinary experience of Women of Faith Network; an organization of brave Muslim and Catholic women battling peacefully every day against unfathomable horrors.

At 6.00pm, introduced by Stefano Francia di Celle, L’udienza will be screened. After 42 years since its release, Marco Ferreri’s masterpiece returns to theaters thanks to the restoration operation put together by Cineteca di Bologna and by Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino in collaboration with Cristaldi Film. The Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo (www.entespettacolo.org) has been active on the Italian cinematographic culture scene since 1946. With articles dealing with politics and finance from leading European newspapers Cineconomy offers a wide range of opinions and points of view, attempting to give a united picture of the European situation.

Every year it publishes the Report – The Film Market and Industry in Italy, which can also be downloaded in English free of charge.

The Tertio Millennio Film Fest (www.tertiomillenniofilmfest.org), reached its 18th edition in 2014, is the first festival to take place with the Patronage of the Vatican. It is organized by the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo and the «Rivista del Cinematografo» under the same leadership. The festival is organized in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for Culture and Social Communications, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Cineteca Nazionale, Rai Cinema and Cultural project promoted by the Italian Church, in partnership with Istituto Luce-Cinecittà and with the support of the Roma Lazio Film Commission with the contribution of the Direction General for Cinema of the Ministry of cultural activities and tourism.

The President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, bestowed a representational plaque on the XVIII year and on the previous years of the Tertio Millennio Film Fest.
