[ Premiers Plans - Angers Film Festival] 9 THE FESTIVAL OF ALL AUDIENCES

A renewed and curious audience

"It’s a festival for film lovers!" Catherine Deneuve

"I didn’t expect such a fervor and so many people for the screening!"Isabelle Huppert

"I love the festival, especially for the audience in Angers. It’s very warm, you feel good from the first moment. It’s amazing, and it’s great!" Lola Dueñas

"I love this festival deeply. I have read several scripts in public, an exercise that I like very much. So this is also a gesture of friendship to me and I receive it with deep gratitude." Denis Podalydès

"From the outset, the Premiers Plans Festival is striking for its richness and dynamism: meetings, lessons, readings, conferences and a plethora of programming. More than that, it is the vitality that is displayed with its record attendance and its crowds of students and high school students." Les Cahiers du cinéma

"I really like this Festival, it is on a human scale, very cinephile. It’s amazing to see a room of 1,200 people watching first short films."

"This Festival is the opposite of the Cannes Festival: everyone meets everyone, directors, scriptwriters, producers, spectators, aspiring filmmakers, etc." Jeanne Moreau

"Seeing a film you know nothing about is the most beautiful experience for a film lover. I remember that from the first edition, the festival was very well attended, very relaxed and very serious." Lucas Belvaux

"Full houses, lots of young people: at the Festival Premiers Plans d’Angers, the 7th art has, once again, demonstrated that it is alive and well." Jérôme Clément

[ Premiers Plans - Angers Film Festival ] 10 Initiatives for film education

Since the creation of the Festival in 1989, the film education is an integral part of its artistic project. The main objective is to reach young people, thanks to different partnerships developed throughout the year. Schoolchildren

Teachers and educators have been involved in the Festival since its inception, helping their students discover the cinema in a rich and festive context. To guide them through the programs, the Festival provides them with tools developed with a pedagogical committee of teachers and accompanies them in the organization of programs combining screenings, meetings and workshops. These tools and itineraries are tailored to the level of the students, with particular attention paid to schoolchildren and young college students. Les jeunes hors du temps scolaire

VIP ! Vidéo In Project For 18 years, the Angers First Film Festival gives the opportunity to young people of community centre to live actively the Festival, by creating audiovisual productions (films, photographies, radio programmes).

Family The Festival pays special attention to the families, by offering a programme of films and workshops, for young people from the age of 3.

[ Premiers Plans - Angers Film Festival] 11 Students

The variety of partnerships set up with higher education reflects the diversity of training and interests of students and teachers involved in the Festival. The projects focus on raising awareness of the image, but also on an approach to the cinema professions, both artistic and technical. Adults

While young people, accompanied by educators, take over the Festival, other actions allow the sensitization of adult audiences. The challenge is to encourage access for audiences who have never been to Premiers Plans. The barrier is not always financial, it is also linked to the fear of the unknown: the Festival may seem too complicated, far from their desire for cinema, not made for them. The actions developed in partnership with people in associations, libraries and works councils are built around discovery days, training sessions, workshops and even the constitution of juries giving privileged access to an active reading of the images. Accessibility for people with disabilities

Since 2010, the Festival is committed to making its offer more accessible to all, especially to the disabled and the elderly. Beyond a voluntary approach to these audiences, it is the comfort of each one that is sought. Various services and proposals are implemented: a welcome and priority placement according to needs, better information on access methods, a pricing policy adapted to the needs and current accessibility of the Festival, means of compensation according to the types of disability to enjoy the works (audio description, adapted subtitling ...) and actions to raise awareness of the image.
