From the historic church of St Michael & All Angels one of the highest churches in , built by American and French PoWs from nearby Dartmoor Prison and follow an old railway to a former quarry and enjoy sweeping views of the high

 Start point: Church of St Michael & All Angels, Princetown, Road, Yelverton, , PL20 6RE (Grid ref: SX586737 - gridreferencefinder.com/ OS map: Explorer OL28)  Distance: approx. 6.5 miles (10.5km)  Route: circular  Ease: Moderate - appropriate footwear and attire needed for walking. Please be aware that the quarry has steep sides and caution is required.

Directions

1. From the church turn right and walk down the road into the village. 2. From the car park next to the Moorland Visitor Centre take the service road and follow this in a south-westerly direction towards the Fire Station. 3. Take the footpath on the left, which in due course follows the track of the former railway. 4. Follow the Dartmoor Way for approx. 4km, until you approach King's Tor, take the path on the left to access the Tor. 5. Retrace your steps from the tor and turn left to pick up the Dartmoor Way again. 6. Continue on the path, as it turns back toward Princetown, for approx. 2km. 7. Here turn left to take the path up toward Sweltor Quarry. Continue on this path for approx. 500m until it approaches the quarry and circles round to the right. 8. Follow the path as it winds round to the left, then bends sharper left and subsequently right. 9. Turn right and follow the path for 400m and then turn right again to rejoin the Dartmoor Way back to Princetown.
