Perivale Ward Forum meeting – held on Tuesday 14th October 2008 at 7.00pm at Selbourne Primary School

Present: Councillors Allott (chair), Yeo, Pile

Attendees: 112 attendees with 58 people signing the attendance sheet and 49 completed questionnaires

Welcome and Introductions The meeting started at 7:03 pm in the dining hall of Selbourne Primary School with Cllr Allott (chair) welcoming all and introducing his fellow Cllrs, Sgt Graham Edwards and PC Jim Hartland of the Perivale Safer Neighbourhoods Team and Tan Afzal, the Neighbourhood Governance Coordinator. 2. Role of the Ward Forums Cllr Allott stated the following:

. Perivale has always been unique in having an Area Committee devoted to one ward. As a new venture ward forums hopes to localise issues for each of the 23 wards. . There is a formal emphasis on spending an allocated budget of 40k, to enable local residents to drive forward local improvements. The budget can only be spent

Ward forums are not public surgeries; issues relating to individuals and not the ward should be relayed through the surgeries hosted separately by the Cllrs. . The ward forum aims to increase community engagement and encourage greater consultation with local communities at a local level . Minutes to the meeting will be conveyed through notes and actions, which will be posted on the Councils website. You no longer will have to wait until the next meeting to get a response to those matters raised. This method will hopefully allow you to get an update to all inquiries quickly and more effectively. Environmental Crime Concerns  Cllr Allott stated that as long as residents continued to report concerns relating enviro crime (e.g. flytipping, abandoned vehicles, graffiti) the ward would remain clean and safe.  Explained that street cleaning was currently rated at 98%, indicating that refuse and litter is collected efficiently  Jo Dorman the environmental crime officer would be invited to the next ward forum meeting for an update

No. Note Action Point/Information 4 Update on Current Projects Cllr Allott:  An amount of 40k has been spent to deliver the CCTV units on Medway Parade. Two cameras linked to the Town Hall, are in operation 24 hours a day with supervision from the CCTV Unit.  Gating projects have been completed in a number of areas including Ryesdale Avenue, and Empire Road. This financial year Teignmouth Avenue has been selected by the gating panel to receive funds for the gating of its alleyway  The proposal to build a school on the Perivale Sports Ground, may no longer be a possibility, as an alternative location will be proposed to Cabinet this evening  The Council is scrutinizing the effectiveness of 20MPH zones; this has led to asking residents their opinions on the use of this scheme. If you are interested in giving your view on 20MPH zones, please take a questionnaire  Residents have asked to have Lever Gardens closed off to the A40. A process, TA has emailed highways regarding a firm date which includes consultation, feasibility, budget allocation and design, has been completed.
