Greenford Perivale Circular Walk – 3.5 Miles Greenford Perivale Circular Walk – 3.5 miles. Greenford station – Oldfield Recreation Ground - Cayton Green Park – Medway Estate - Ealing Central Sports Ground – Perivale station – Horsenden Lane South – Perivale Wood – Horsenden Farm – Horsenden Hill – Grand Union Canal – Paradise Fields - Westway Cross – Greenford station. Route: Leisurely; paths; quiet roads; parks; open spaces; towpath. Local amenities: Shops and cafes at Greenford and Medway Estate; Toilets/shop at Perivale station; Toilets at Horsenden Farm; Shops, cafes, toilets at Westway Cross Shopping Centre. Points of interest: Horsenden Farm and Hill; Grand Union Canal; Paradise Fields. Transport: Trains from Greenford station (Central Line & GWR to West Ealing); Perivale station (Central Line); Local buses. Start from Greenford station. From the ticket office go right out of the station past a road - Hill Rise. Cross Oldfield Lane North at the pedestrian crossing and go left to Oldfield Recreation Ground. Walk through this small park to emerge on the Greenford Road. Go left to a pedestrian crossing. Cross – with care/busy road – and walk up Bennetts Avenue to the end and Cayton Green Park. Go along the public footpath at the side of the park and soon turn left under the railway. Walk through to Conway Crescent and turn right as far as the shops on Medway Parade. Continue past the shops and along Barmouth Avenue, then right along Colwyn Avenue, then left into Scorton Avenue. At the end go right along a footpath by a large, grassy open space - part of Ealing Central Sports Ground – to emerge on Horsenden Lane North opposite Perivale station. Go left under the railway bridge and along the road past Perivale Library and the Rendezvous Café. Go nearly to the canal bridge. ** see below to continue. Point of interest: If visiting Horsenden Farm or Horsenden Hill continue over the canal bridge and go right through a gateway (*) and along the drive to the old farmhouse – toilets nearby. For Horsenden Hill go up steps by the house, through gates, and up a path, right, then left by the golf course, gradually climbing to get to the top of the hill. *If gate closed then go past and follow the tarmac path as far as a car park access and go right to get to the top. Allow an extra hour! ** To continue walk from canal bridge. Just before reaching the bridge go through a gap on the right leading to the towpath. Turn left under the canal bridge – groove marks worn into iron uprights as you go under the bridge were caused by the constant rubbing of ropes over many years attached to horse drawn barges. Go along the canal soon passing by Perivale Wood managed by the Selborne Society – see website for details of membership. Continue along the canal as far as a wooden bridge. Leave the canal here. Go up a slope – do not cross the bridge – and walk downhill through this vibrant nature area known as Paradise Fields. Worth having a wander around. Just past a pond go under the Westway Shopping Centre access road and continue on to reach the traffic lights at the junction of Rockware Avenue/Greenford Road. Cross at the lights and go along Rockware Avenue to the end. Here, go left under the railway to reach Greenford station. .

Summer 2016 Introduction: Calculating the number of eligible children in each Ward of the borough The methodology utilised by the DfE to predict the number of eligible children in the borough cannot be replicated at Ward level (refer to page 14: Appendix 1 for DfE methodology) Therefore the calculations for the borough have been calculated utilising the most recent data at Ward level concerning the proportions of parents working, the estimates of 3& 4 year population and the number of those 4yr old ineligible as they are attending school. The graph below illustrates the predicted lower and upper estimates for eligible 3&4 year olds for each Ward Page 1 of 15 Executive Summary The 30hr eligibility criteria related to employment, income and the number of children aged 4 years attending reception class (who are ineligible for the funding) makes it much more likely that eligible children will be located in Wards with higher levels of employment and income (potentially up to a joint household income of £199,998) and lower numbers of children aged 4years in reception class. Although the 30hr. childcare programme may become an incentive to work in the future, in terms of the immediate capital bid, the data points to investment in areas which are quite different than the original proposal, which targeted the 5 wards within the Southall area. The 5 Southall Wards are estimated to have the fewest number of eligible children for the 30hr programme. The top 5 Wards estimated to have the highest number of eligible children are amongst the least employment and income deprived Wards in Ealing with the lowest numbers of children affected by income deprivation.

    Valuing Ealing’s Urban Trees EALING I-TREE ECO TECHNICAL REPORT Report Published in 2018 ©Trees for Cities 2018 Designed by Arup FOREWORD Ealing’s trees are an integral part of the borough’s character, from the 400 year old woodlands to the Cherry blossom-lined streets; even the borough’s logo sports a tree. Trees can play an important role in promoting mental and physical wellbeing, adding colour and beauty to the built urban landscape, reducing the heat island effect and they have the ability to absorb large quantities of water, to help reduce the risk of flooding. Ealing’s trees are becoming increasingly valuable as we face challenges of climate change and population growth. The Council’s vision is to increase and enhance the whole of the urban tree stock for the enjoyment of current and future generations and to ensure that trees remain a defining feature of the splendid suburban borough that is Ealing. One of the overarching themes of the new draft London Plan (December 2017) is creating a healthy city. The Plan suggests that green infrastructure, including trees, must be planned, designed, and managed in a more integrated way to ensure Londoners reap the multitude of benefits it provides, including mental and physical health and wellbeing. The Plan emphases that the urban forest is an important part of London’s green infrastructure and a major asset to the urban environment. This report helps us better understand the importance of Ealing’s trees and woodlands. The economic and social value of trees has become increasingly evident across all of London and has been highlighted in the London i-Tree Assessment and the Natural Capital Account for London’s public parks and green spaces.
