The Berber (Amazig) people of Siwa Oasis have been living there from before the time of Alexander the Great (300 years B.C.). They are a kind and hospitable people, ready to share their treasured oasis with you. It is located deep in the Sahara Desert, and accessible on a tar road about 3 hours from Egypt’s Mediterranean north coast town of Marsa Matrouh. Siwa is a delightful place to get away from the busy cities of Egypt and experience life in a large oasis full of palm trees and hot springs and surrounded by high sand dunes. There is also plenty of history as sites dating several thousand years, from the time Alexander visited a famous oracle, are still standing. You will be hosted by our local Berber friends and eat meals in their homes and hear from them about life in an oasis. The open spaces and quiet nights will refresh you in every way. Experience the adventure : desert 4x4 drive, sand boarding, sunset over the Sahara, hot springs at night under a star lit sky, traditional Berber food cooked under the sand, sleeping in tents or local sand built homes.
