Dear Commissioners, Staff, and members of the Business Community and Colleagues:

Enclosed please find our 2007 Summary of Award and Dollars Paid to Disadvantaged, Minority and Women-owned Vendors, Contractors and Consultants. Since 1994, the year we implemented our program, we have paid more than $185 million to M/W/DBEs. Our 2007 report is also available on our website at www.drpa.org/obdeo.

In 2007, effective outreach remained a key cornerstone of our program’s success. Some of our initiatives included:

• January 24, 2007 – Staff, in collaboration with the Greater Chamber of Commerce, participated in a series of Suppliers Network Matchmaking events.

• March 6, 2007 – Staff participated in the Trade Show, Matchmaking, and other presentations at the Alliance Mid-Atlantic Small Business Procurement Fair. The Conference was held at the Trump Taj Mahal, located in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

• March 28, 2007 – Staff members participated in an Open House which was hosted by the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation. The event, geared toward women-owned businesses was entitled, Women in Transportation, Small Business Contracting Forum Doing Business with the Public Agencies in NJ, What’s New? The event took place at the Thomas Edison State College, Trenton, NJ.

• May 15, 2007 – Staff, in conjunction with Wachovia Bank, participated in the New Jersey Interagency Coordinating Committee, hosted the second annual New Jersey Competitive Purchases, “Avenues of Opportunities for Small Businesses.” The event was held at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ.

• May 22, 2007 – The Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity hosted the New Jersey Affirmative Action Officers’ Council General Monthly Meeting. The meeting was held at DRPA's Headquarters Building, , in Camden, NJ.

The event took place at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown Philadelphia Hotel.

• June 8, 2007 – Staff attended the New Jersey Affirmative Action Officers’ Council Annual Training Workshop and Paul M. Smith Scholarship Luncheon held at the New Jersey Training School (NJTS) in Monroe Township, NJ.

• June 14, 2007 – Staff participated in the Matchmaking Session and Exhibitors at the 16th Annual Small Business Procurement Exposition sponsored by the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers and Rutgers, The State University. The EXPO was held at the Paul Roberson Campus Center, Rutgers, the State University in Newark, NJ.

• June 20, 2007 – Staff, in collaboration with the African American Chamber of Commerce of PA-NJ-DE, hosted a workshop on “How to Do Business with the DRPA.” The workshop as held at DRPA’s Headquarters, One Port Center.

• June 27, 2007 – Staff sponsored and supported the 8th Annual Delaware Procurement Expo sponsored by Delaware Small Business Development Center Network. The event was held at the Delmarva Conference Center in Newark, DE.

• September 20, 2007 – Staff exhibited at the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey 23rd Annual Business EXPO. The event was held at the Crowne Plaza, Cherry Hill, NJ.

• October 3, 2007 – Staff participated in the Break-through Breakfast Trade Fair sponsored by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council of PA-DE-NJ. The event was held at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel.

• October 4, 2007 – Staff participated as Exhibitors at the “Everything Jersey: Business Statewide Conference and Expo.” The networking event was sponsored by New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey 101.5 FM Radio, and the Star-Ledger. The event was held at the Garden State Exhibit Center, Somerset, NJ.

• October 11, 2007 – DRPA was a proud sponsor of the Minority Supplier Development Council of PA-NJ-DE Seventh Annual Business Opportunity Convention, “It’s Your Time to Shine,” which was held at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.

Next to each vendor’s name we have noted the “category” of supplies that the vendor provided along with the dollar value of same. We have developed this index to help you better understand what types of items are included in the broad categories recorded next to each vendor’s name. We hope this additional information will provide you with a better sense of the types of commodities the DRPA solicits throughout the year, enabling you to better market your firm’s products to our Purchasing Department.

Office Supplies- This category includes, but is not limited to the following items: paper, computer supplies, correcting and duplicating supplies, envelopes.

Safety Supplies- This category includes, but is not limited to the following items: body protective items (i.e., earmuffs, gloves, safety vests), first aid kits, miscellaneous safety supplies (i.e., fire extinguisher cartridges, safety walk tape), traffic aids and vehicle safety (i.e., flares, flags, and traffic cones).

Hardware Supplies- This category includes, but is not limited to the following items: adhesives and lubricants, chain, rope and mechanics wire, hand implements and replacement handles, blades, nozzles, fractional and industrial V belts, and plated threaded rods.
