FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 2014

SONS OF BILL MINE THE SOUTHERN GOTHIC TRADITION AND RETURN TO THE ROOTS OF ALT-COUNTRY ON LOVE & LOGIC OUT SEPTEMBER 30th

“Sons of Bill proves that good alt-country isn’t dead.” - USA Today

“...one of the most arresting bands I’ve heard in years.” — Garden and Gun

Nashville, TN – Charlottesville, Virginia brothers Abe, James and Sam Wilson (aka, rock outfit Sons of Bill) will release their superb new album Love & Logic, on September 30th via Thirty Tigers. In a time when pop culture mechanisms continue to dumb down the South, Sons of Bill find inspiration in the region’s rich literary and cultural traditions. With Grammy nominated producer and former Uncle Tupelo/ drummer Ken Coomer at the helm, Sons of Bill has elevated their artistry to new heights by making an album that is as current as it is rooted in the foundations of early alt-country, long before the term Americana was coined.

On Love & Logic, the Wilson Brothers share equal duties on lead vocals and writing or co-writing all of the songs. Sons of Bill stand out as a band with the ability to mix rich imagery and thoughtful lyrics with the attitude of a rock and roll band (thanks in-part to the solid rhythm section of Seth Green on bass and Todd Wellons on drums). Along with dreamy pedal steel, banjo and layered three part harmonies, Love & Logic is a soul searcher’s soundtrack that envelops the listener in a full album experience. This is evidenced right from the opening track, “The Big Unknown” along with the lush "Brand New Paradigm" and the propulsive "Bad Dancer", which tackles the theme of young love, achieving your parent’s expectations and fitting into today's culture. Another standout track is “Lost In The Cosmos”, a hauntingly beautiful tribute to the other late- front man, Chris Bell.

The Sons of Bill are the sons of William Wilson, professor emeritus of theology and literature at the University of Virginia. Though there were no stereos in the Wilson household growing up, music and the appreciation for great songwriting was impressed onto them at an early age though their father’s love for playing and singing. The band gained national attention with the release of the Sirens LP (their third) in 2012, and toured extensively in support of the release, which debuted on the Billboard top 200 and #12 on the Heatseekers chart.

In this over saturated age, when roots/rock bands are all too common, Sons of Bill have created an album that feels fresh and relevant. The band will be hitting the road once again this Fall with tour dates kicking off in their home state of Virginia and stretching clear to the West Coast. (Full list of tour dates below.)
