Lesson Structure

Introduction/ warm-up (Connection and Activation) With Differentiation (Extension/Support) timings

Introduce 2 of the offensive positions. The Centre is the player who starts off with the ball. Their job is to pass the ball through between their legs to the Quarterback.

This may seem like a very simple drill, but the skill being taught is extremely important, as every play begins with a snap

Quarter back and Centre exchange drill. 10 Minutes Extension- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk4Ig__zz5Q Add a timer for 45 seconds, see how many complete square players can make.

Set out a 5 by 5 square snapping the ball from the centre player who starts in line with one of the conesto the quarterback that is positioned on the cone behind the centre. Change partners after 2 complete rounds of travelling using the cones. 10/15 Extension- Minutes Snap LeapFrog ● Increase their player distance. ● The center should bend his or her knees, bend at Have players pair up and alternate snapping the ball, with the quarterback the waist, touch the football to the ground, and starting around 5 yards behind the center. As players successfully complete look at the quarterback through his or her legs consecutive snaps, have them increase the distance. ● Start out with the center maintaining visual contact with the quarterback until after the quarterback catches the snap.

Main (Development/ Application) With Differentiation (Extension/Support) timings

Set up one station with one extra player being a coach. Two players are Extension active per station. Have additional players line up behind the drill (X). Have the rest player set up as center (B), while the second player sets up as ● The coach should immediately close his hand to quarterback (A). The quarterback should be positioned under center. 15 Minutes disguise the number of ngers held immediately after the snap.

X A----B C Have the quarterback call out a three part cadence (i.e. Ready, Set, Hike). After the second part of the cadence, the coach (C) holds up a number of fingers. Have the quarterback call out the number of fingers being held up. As the quarterback calls the third part of the cadence, the center should snap the ball, and the coach should simultaneously flash a different number. The quarterback calls out the second number the coach flashes immediately after receiving the snap.

Centre Off The Line 15 Minutes Extension Divide players into pairs. Set-up two rows of three cones far enough apart so that each pair can t between the cones. Have each pair start with the ● Once the centre player snaps the ball and gets to center (A) at the second cone (2) and the quarterback (B) at the third cone the line(cone), they must receive the ball from the (3). The coaching player will call out the snap cadence (i.e. Ready, Set, quarterback. Hike). Each center will then snap the ball to their partner. ● 10 Points for every complete pass(caught ball). ● 5 Points if a hand touches the ball from the pass. After the snap, the center runs a ve-yard curl route to the rst cone (1), and the quarterback throws the ball. Run 5-10 repetitions and have partners switch roles.

Plenary
