Lanak bi zati nagusi ditu, corpusa eta analisiak. Lehen zatian (corpus) kondaira bakoitza bi zutabe paralelotan idatzia dago: ezkerrekoan ezpainetatik harakoan, transkripzio fonologikoan, eta eskuinekoan bizkaiera literarioan. Izaki mitikoen eta gaiaren arabera sailkatuak dira kondairak (sorginak, laminak, Anbotoko Anderea eta ekaitzegileak, familiarrak, deabrua eta Ama Birjina, leku aipagarriak, ospakizunak, berriemaileen iritziak, bizimoduak). Finean, Orozkotik abiatuta, ikerketa eta konklusioak ez dagozkio bakarrik corpusari baina euskal mitologia osoari. Eta, bide batez, erkaketak baieztatzen du euskal mitologia ez dela isla bat, Europakoan kokatua dela eta harekin harreman estuetan. Erredundanteak izan zein kontraesankorrak izan, elkarren komunikazio eta eraginean hartzen dute zentzua: mito bakar baten esanahia ezin da ulertu besteekin dituen antza eta diferentzietan ez bada. Konklusioa da Orozkon bildu mitoek egiazko sistema bat osatzen dutela, eta ez direla funtsik gabeko nahasketa; eta hori da baieztatu nahi den lehen hipotesia, euskal mitologia osoari zabal dakiokeena. While generally expressing an extreme anti-Christian sentiment embedded in themes of oppression and a glorified pagan past, it tends to distance itself from the neo-Nazi and Satanist elements that have come to be associated with its predecessor - Black Metal. While there are sometimes significant discrepancies across various websites as to whether such bands are Pagan, Folk, Black or otherwise, the constants are Black Metal musical style combined with local folk-style music and instrumentation, with lyrics referencing local Pagan legends and communicating a strong sense of local identity. This article explores Pagan Metal from the Basque Country, with the aim of defining what kind of identity it represents, and where that identity is situated within the context of a continuum of Basque identities.

Este caserío fue construido por su sobrina Pilar utilizando como modelo la casa donde habían vivido en el exilio, en la localidad francesa de Sare. Es ordenado sacerdote en 1914 y obtiene la licenciatura en Teología, en la Universidad Eclesiástica de Burgos, en 1915, al mismo tiempo que estudia la carrera de Magisterio. A partir de 1916, y hasta el final de su vida, Barandiarán ejercerá de prehistoriador, arqueólogo, etnólogo, etnógrafo y lingüista. Llevando con exhaustividad científica todas las disciplinas. Autor ingente de más de trescientas cincuenta obras, publicadas e inéditas, entre ar- tículos, libros, entrevistas, monografías, etc, Barandiarán es considerado el «patriarca de la cultura vasca». (Let’s go to the mountains!). Hill walking and Basque identity** Introduction My Basque interlocutors have often tried to convince me that hiking in the mountains is Basques’ favourite way of spending free time, especially of those Basque-speaking (euskaldunak). I remember one trip to the mountains during which my Basque com- panion would listen closely to every group that passed by, counting those who spoke Basque, thus wanting to prove that it is Basque speakers that prevail in the mountains. The subject of this article is a discussion on the role of the landscape (mountains)1 and specific activity associated with it (hiking in the mountains, climbing) in the pro- cess of creating Basque identity. For this purpose, the importance of the mountains in Basque mythology and national ideology will be introduced, and the historical context of the relationship between hiking in the mountains and nationalism (e.g. mendigoxale meaning “movement”) will be presented. Attention will also be paid to mountain hiking as an element of the specific Basque lifestyle. At the same time, the starting point will be to show the specificity and importance of physical activity and sport (including tradi- tional Basque sports) in the Basque region and their role in building the Basque identi- ty. They also constitute an important space in which national and cultural separateness is expressed.
