GOA UNIVERSITY - ADMISSIONS RANKING TEST (GU-ART) 2021-22 Round II & Round I for Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques (PGDMLT)

Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) Round-I for admission to various Post Graduation Degree Programmes at Goa University and its Affiliated Colleges offering Post Graduation programmes for the academic year 2021-22 was held in March-April 2021. Based on the GU-ART Round-I, selected candidates have confirmed their seats as per the Ranking for various Programmes. As seats are still available, mainly under the Reserved Categories, the University has decided to invite applications and conduct the Second Round of GU-ART.

Applications are also invited for admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques (PGDMLT) - GU-ART Round I

Applications for admission to PG Programmes shall be accepted through the online mode only from 3rd June 2021 to 21st June 2021 6.00 P.M. Interested candidates are informed to visit Goa University website www.unigoa.ac.in for details.

Candidates who have already answered GU-ART 2021-22 Round I for a particular programme are not required to apply again.

GUART Coverage: 1. Admission to Post Graduate Programmes will be based on GU-ART. For details of Programmes offered at the University Schools/Departments and Affiliated Colleges, Seat Matrix and reservations refer Annexure I, Annexure I A (PGDMLT) & Annexure II respectively.

2. Admission to following Post Graduation Degree Programmes will not be based on GU-ART: • M.A. Wellness and Counseling, Nirmala Institute of Education • M.B.A., Goa Business School • M.B.A.–Executive, Goa Business School • Integrated M.B.A., Goa Business School • M.Sc. Marine Biotechnology, Department of Biotechnology, Goa University • MBA - Financial Services, Goa Business School • M.Sc. International Hospitality and Tourism Management program (M.Sc. IHTM), V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education

3. For details of fees applicable for Post graduate Programmes offered at the Goa University Campus for the Academic year 2021-22 refer Annexure III

1 Eligibility: Admissions to the Post Graduate Programmes shall be entirely based on the Goa University -Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART). The marks/percentage obtained by the students while graduating would only be used to ascertain the eligibility of candidates for the Programme. The purpose of the GU-ART is only to rank the prospective students and not for determination of pass/ fail. Candidates who are in their Final Year of Graduation are also eligible to apply.

Selected candidates who are in the Final Year of Graduation shall be granted Provisional Admission. Their admission shall be confirmed after the results are declared based on the eligibility. In case a candidate fails to clear the Graduation Examination, the admission shall stand cancelled and the fees shall be refunded.

a) The LAST DATE for submission of applications is 21st June 2021 6.00 P.M b) Candidates who have already answered GU-ART 2021-22 Round I for a particular programme are not required to apply again.

c) Candidates are advised in their own interest to apply online much before the closing date and not wait till the last date for applying/payment of application fee to avoid the possibility of disconnection/inability/ failure to log on to the website on account of heavy load on the website.

d) Goa University does not assume any responsibility to candidates in case they are unable to submit their application by the last date on account of the aforesaid reasons or for any other reason beyond the control of the Goa University.

e) Printout of the application form is not required to be sent to the University.

Application Fees (To be paid online through GUMS portal only): ● INR 600 per subject/specialization. ● INR 300 in case of SC/ST of Goa.* ● No fees shall be charged from Persons with Disability.

*Candidates applying for admission under these categories shall be required to submit a certificate to that effect issued by the officer of the rank of the Deputy Collector or above.

Submission of Preferences Candidates applying for the following programmes which are offered at multiple locations/Institutions are required to submit their preferences of Institutions through the Google Form by accessing the following link: https://forms.gle/68dz8Ghf2HwYNMj67 1. The last date to fill and submit the Google Form is 30th JUNE 2021.

2 In case candidates submit Preference Forms multiple times then the latest submission shall be treated as final. No Physical Counseling will be conducted for the allotment of seats.

GU-ART: Candidates are requested to note the following details regarding the GU-ART. 1. Candidates shall be permitted to apply for a maximum of three subjects/specializations only for the PG Programmes. 2. Candidates who wish to apply for more than one programme are required to use the same login details. No changes shall be entertained after the application is submitted online.

3. The GU-ART shall be of one paper of 100 marks, containing 50 objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of 2 marks each. There shall be negative marking, where half a mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks shall be deducted for unanswered questions. The duration of the GU- ART shall be 90 minutes.

4. The breakup of 100 marks for the GU-ART Question paper shall be as follows: a. Section I (Least difficult) - 15 Questions b. Section II (Difficult) - 15 Questions c. Section III (Most difficult) - 20 Questions

5. In case of candidates who have answered the GU-ART and have secured equal marks in the ranking list: a. Section III scores shall be the first level of tie breaker, followed by Section II b. In case the tie still exists, the University shall decide the order of merit.

7. A Common GU-ART shall be conducted for admission to  M.Sc. Marine Microbiology and M.Sc. Microbiology Programme.  MSc. Environmental and MA Environmental Studies.

8. GU-ART Round III shall be conducted only if seats remain vacant in the respective subject/ specialization Programmes. However, candidates answering the subsequent GU-ART Rounds shall be ranked after the previous Round candidates.

Example: If 100 candidates apply for Round I, all 100 will be assigned a rank based on the marks scored. For Round II, candidates shall be ranked from 101 onwards. The candidate scoring highest marks at GU-ART Round II will be ranked 101.

GU-ART Schedule: The Mode of the GU-ART Round II SHALL BE announced later depending upon the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The tentative Schedule for the GU-ART will be as follows: The GU-ART Round II shall be held tentatively in the Last week of June 2021 or 1st week of July. The Confirmed dates shall be announced later.

3 Admission Process:

a. For Programmes offered only at the University Schools/Departments or at a single College, seats shall be allotted to candidates based on their performance in the GU-ART. Rules/Guidelines for allotment of seats are given in Annexure V. Candidates are not required to submit preferences for these programmes.

b. For Programmes offered at both the University as well as the Affiliated Colleges or at multiple Colleges, seats shall be allotted based on the preferences submitted by Candidates through the Google Form (Click here to refer List of Programmes). Allotment of seats will be on the basis of availability of seats and preferences of Candidates. Rules/Guidelines for allotment of seats are given in Annexure V.

1. All Candidates including those who are Selected/Allotted/Offered seats at the Goa University Schools/Departments or Affiliated Colleges shall be required to pay the Seat Confirmation Fee of Rs.5,000/- online on the GUMS Portal.

2. The Second Round of GU-ART shall be held to fill seats which remain vacant after the First Round of Admissions including Reserved Category seats. Reserved Category Seats remaining vacant in the Second Round will be transferred to the General Category.

4 RESERVATION UNDER VARIOUS CATEGORIES

Reservation of seats for admission to various Programmes of study shall be on the basis of the Reservation Policy of the State Government.

Candidates applying for admission under the reserved categories shall be required to submit a valid certificate to that effect issued by the Officer of the rank of the Deputy Collector or any other authorized Officer as notified by the .

2% of seats in each of the Post Graduate programmes of study, subject to a minimum of one seat, shall be reserved for candidates belonging to SC Category of Goa State. Candidates applying for admission under this category shall be required to submit a certificate to that effect issued by the officer of the rank of the Deputy Collector or above.

12% of seats in each of the Post Graduate programmes of study, subject to a minimum of one seat, shall be reserved for candidates belonging to ST Category of Goa State. Candidates applying for admission under this category shall be required to submit a certificate to that effect issued by the officer of the rank of the Deputy Collector or above.

27% of total seats, subject to a minimum of two seats, for admission to various programmes of study, shall be reserved for candidates belonging to other backward classes (OBC) of the State of Goa as per the directives of the State Government. Candidates applying under this category shall be required to submit a certificate issued to that effect by the officer of the rank of the Mamlatdar or above.

4% of total seats, subject to minimum one seat for admission to various programmes of study shall be reserved for person with disability candidates (as per State Government directives).

10% of seats, subject to a maximum of two seats and a minimum of one seat in each programme of study, except in M.Sc. Biotechnology, shall be made available for candidates of other .

10% of total seats shall be reserved for Economically Weaker Section of General Category (EWS) as per the directives of the State Government. Candidates applying under this category shall be required to submit a certificate issued to that effect by the officer of the rank of the Mamlatdar or any other authorized Officer as notified by the Government of Goa.

1% of total seats shall be reserved for Children of Ex- servicemen.

Seats falling vacant under any of the above reserved categories shall be filled from the General Category candidates with the approval of the Vice Chancellor.

15% of seats, over and above the allotted number of seats, shall be reserved as supernumerary seats for the overseas candidates, who are eligible for admission and are recommended by Govt. of India under scholarship from Govt. of India or under exchange programme (ICCR Programme). These seats shall be filled in accordance with the UGC guidelines. Out of the 15% supernumerary seats, one seat in each program will be reserved for Kashmiri Migrants (KM) as per directives of the UGC.

Percentage of seats mentioned above is subject to change depending upon the directives of the State Government.

5 REFUND OF COURSE FEES a) If a student chooses to withdraw from the programme of study in which he/she is enrolled, the following five tier system shall be followed for the refund of fees remitted by him/her.

* (Inclusive of tuition fees and non-tuition fees but exclusive of Caution Deposit and Security Deposit) b) In case of (1) in the table above, 5% of the aggregate fees paid by the student, subject to a maximum of Rs. 5,000/- shall be deducted as processing charges from the refundable amount. c) Fees shall be normally refunded to an eligible student within fifteen days from the date of receiving a written application from him/her along with proof of payment in this regard. d) The fees of students who have already been admitted to a programme of the University and have paid the fees and are subsequently admitted to another programme shall have to pay the fees for the final admission and claim the refund of fees paid earlier, in which case no administrative charges shall be deducted from fees paid earlier by the student.

However, if the fees payable for the both the programmes are the same, the fees paid earlier shall be transferred to the final programme where admission is sought.

e) All other cases of refund of fees will be decided on case to case basis on its merit.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO PG PROGRAMMES

A] Faculty of Languages & Literature: M.A. in English, French, Hindi, Konkani, Marathi, and Portuguese For being eligible for admission to the Programmes leading to the Degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) a candidate shall have passed the examination of Degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) of the University with minimum of 32 credits or three units in the subject for which admission is sought or an examination of any other University recognised as equivalent thereto.

B] Faculty of Social Sciences: i) M.A. in History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology,

For being eligible for admission to the Programmes leading to the Degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) a candidate shall have passed the examination of Degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) of the University with minimum of 32 credits or three units in the subject for which admission is sought or an examination of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto. ii) Bachelor of Library and Information Science (B.L.I.Sc) Graduates in any discipline of the University any of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to apply for admission iii) Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.Sc) Graduates in Library and Information Science with a minimum 40% of aggregate marks from any recognized university in India or abroad shall be eligible to apply.

C] Goa of Business School: i) Master of Arts in Economics (MA)

For being eligible for admission to the Programmes leading to the Degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) a candidate shall have passed the examination of Degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) of the University with minimum of 32 credits or three units in the subject for which admission is sought or an examination of any other University recognised as equivalent thereto. ii) Masters of Commerce (M.Com). For being eligible for admission to the programme leading to the degree of Master of Commerce (M.Com.) a candidate shall have passed the examination for a degree of B.Com/BBA/BBA (FS), of this University or an examination of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto.

D] School of Physical and Applied Sciences i) M.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics a) A candidate for being eligible for admission to a course leading to the degree of Master of Science in Mathematics, and Physics, must have passed the examination of the degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or from any other recognized University, with at least 32 credits in the first, second and third years taken together under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the subject for which admission is sought In Semester system of examination the number of papers or units shall be 14, with a total of 1400 marks, out of which eight papers are studied in F.Y. and S.Y. taken together and minimum 6 papers in T.Y. for being eligible for PG admission in that subject. b) A candidate passing the T.Y.B.Sc. Examination with two subjects will be considered eligible to apply for admission to the M.Sc. programme in either of the said two subjects.

Back 12 ii) M.Sc in Electronics a) A candidate for being eligible for admission to a course leading to the degree of Master of Science in Electronics must have passed the examination of the Degree of Bachelor of Science with Physics/ Computer Science/ Electronics of the University or from any other recognised University.

E] Faculty of Life Sciences & Environment i) M.Sc. in Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology.

a) A candidate for being eligible for admission to a course leading to the degree of Master of Science in Microbiology, Botany and Zoology must have passed the examination of the degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or from any other recognized University, with at least 32 credits in the first, second and third years taken together under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the subject for which admission is sought. In Semester system of examination, the number of papers or units shall be 14, with a total of 1400 marks, out of which eight papers are studied in F.Y. and S.Y. taken together and minimum 6 papers in T.Y. for being eligible for PG admission in that subject. b) A candidate passing the T.Y.B.Sc. Examination with two subjects, will be considered eligible to apply for admission to the M.Sc. programme in either of the said two subjects. ii) M.Sc. in Biotechnology Candidates having Bachelor's degree in Natural / Biological & Clinical Sciences, Agricultural / Veterinary / Fishery Sciences / / / Technology or 4-years B.Sc. (Physician Assistant) or Medicine (MBBS) or B.D.S., with at least 55% marks, shall be eligible for the M.Sc. in Biotechnology Programmes.

iii) Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques (PGDMLT) A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques must have passed the examination of degree of Bachelor of Science of this University or from any other recognized University, with at least 32 credits in the first, second and third years taken together under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the subject of either Microbiology, Bio-technology, or Zoology, and must have offered Chemistry as a subject upto the second year level. In Semester system of examination, the number of papers or units shall be 14, with a total of 1400 marks, out of which eight papers are studied in F.Y. and S.Y. taken together and minimum 6 papers in T.Y. for being eligible for PG admission in that subject.

F] School of Chemical Sciences Back i) M.Sc. in Chemistry a) A candidate for being eligible for admission to a course leading to the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry, must have passed the examination of the degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or from any other recognized University, with at least 32 credits in the first, second and third years taken together under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the subject for which admission is sought. In Semester system of examination the number of papers or units shall be 14, with a total of 1400 marks, out of which eight papers are studied in F.Y. and S.Y. taken together and minimum 6 papers in T.Y. for being eligible for PG admission in that subject.

b) A candidate passing the T.Y.B.Sc. Examination with two subjects, will be considered eligible to apply for admission to the M.Sc. programme in either of the said two subjects.

c) Candidates passing B.Pharm shall also be eligible to apply for M.Sc. in Chemistry and considered for admission as per provisions notified in the concerned Department from time to time.

d) Candidates applying for admission to the M.Sc. Programme in Chemistry shall be eligible to be admitted to only one of the various specialisations at M. Sc., Part II, as notified in the University Prospectus.

e) Allotment of seats under various specializations of the Master’s Programme in Chemistry, shall be as notified.

13 b) M.Sc. in Biochemistry: A candidate for being eligible for admission to a course leading to the Degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry shall have passed the examination of the Degree of Bachelor of Science of this University or from any other recognized University with Chemistry as principal subject with 6 units (or 3 units) at T.Y.B.Sc. and at least 8 papers of 100 marks each in the Semester pattern of examination of Biological Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and allied subjects) in the first, second and third years taken together, OR any of the Biological Sciences as principal subject with 6 units (or 3 units) at T.Y. B.Sc. and at least 8 papers of 100 marks each in the Semester pattern of examination of Chemistry in the first, second and third years taken together.

G] School of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences

(i) M.Sc. in Earth Science (Applied Geology) a) A candidate for being eligible for admission to a course leading to the degree of Master of Science in Earth Science, must have passed the examination of the degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or from any other recognized University, with at least 32 credits in the first, second and third years taken together under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the subject for which admission is sought. In Semester system of examination, the number of papers or units shall be 14, with a total of 1400 marks, out of which eight papers are studied in F.Y. and S.Y. taken together and minimum 6 papers in T.Y. for being eligible for PG admission in that subject. b) A candidate passing the T.Y.B.Sc. Examination with two subjects, will be considered eligible to apply for admission to the M.Sc. programme in either of the said two subjects.

(ii) M.Sc. in Marine Science: A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. (Marine Science) Programme, must have passed the examination of the degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or from any other recognized University, with at least 32 credits in the first, second and third years taken together under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in any of the following subjects: microbiology, botany, zoology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, earth sciences. In Semester system of examination the number of papers or units shall be 21, with a total of 2100 marks, in any of the above subjects, individually or taken together, in the six semesters programme of B.Sc.

(iii) M.Sc in Environmental Science/M.A in Environmental Studies. A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. Environmental Science Programme must have passed the examination of the degree of Bachelor of Science of the University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto.

14 CHANGE OF SUBJECT /FACULTY

1. Change of Subject/Faculty for Candidates for Master of Arts / Master of Commerce Programmes: Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree examination in any subject of this University or any other recognized University and secured at least 40% of the aggregate marks in their qualifying examination may seek admission to the Master of Arts Degree Programme/Master of Commerce Degree Programme in a subject of their choice these candidates are required to appear for the Ranking Test in the concerned subject/programme they are applying for.

2. Change of Subject/Faculty for Candidates for Master of Science Programmes: Candidates who have passed a Bachelor's degree examination in any Science subject of this University or any other recognized University and secured at least 40% of the aggregate marks in their qualifying examination may seek admission to the Master of Science Programme in a subject of their choice. Such Candidates shall be required to pass the Change of Discipline Test in addition to the Ranking Test (GU-ART) in the concerned subject/programme they are applying for. Change of Discipline Test for PG Admission to MSc. Programmes shall be conducted after GU-ART Round II.

Change of Discipline Test: The Change of Discipline Test shall be of 50 MCQ each carrying 2 marks for the correct answer and 0.5 negative (-ve) marks for a wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions. The duration of the Test shall be of 90 minutes. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 50% marks in the Change of Discipline Test to pass the test.

How to apply:

Candidates are required to select the “Change of Subject/Faculty” option while filling the online application form. These candidates will have to apply to the Registrar, in the prescribed form, on or before the date specified in the University Notification/ Prospectus for such change of subject or faculty.

The candidates desirous to be admitted under the scheme of ‘Change of Subject/Faculty’ for admission to the Masters of Science Degree Programme shall have to appear for the Ranking Test in the concerned subject.

Change of Discipline Test for PG Admission to MSc. Programmes shall be conducted after GU-ART Round II.

RULES FOR SELECTION

Selection of Candidates for programmes which are offered at a single location

Lists of Selected Candidates will be declared on the website. Selected Candidates will be offered admission on a provisional basis and shall have to pay the Seat Confirmation Fee of INR.5,000/- on GUMS.

Selection of Candidates for programmes which are offered at multiple locations.

For Programmes offered at both the University as well as the Affiliated Colleges or at multiple Colleges, seats shall be allotted based on the availability of seats and preferences submitted by Candidates through the Google Form. NO PHYSICAL COUNSELING WILL BE CONDUCTED FOR THE ALLOTMENT OF SEATS.

List of selected candidates will be declared on the website. Selected Candidates will be offered admission on a provisional basis and shall have to pay the Seat Confirmation Fee of INR.5,000/- on GUMS. General 1. Seats under un-reserved category will be filled first, followed by respective reserved categories.

2. If a candidate after securing admission to a programme wishes to transfer his seat from a University Department to another and from a College programme to University School/Department and vice versa her/his fee shall be is transferred or refunded as per UGC Rules.

3. Reserved category seats are to be transferred to General Category only after completion of 2nd Round.

4. All Seats which were allotted at Round I but were not confirmed by the candidates by payment of Seat Confirmation Fees will be offered to other eligible candidates.

5. Any seat vacated under the Reserved Categories shall be allotted to waitlist candidates of the same reserved category up till the 1st List of GU-ART Round II.

6. Vacancies arising under the reserved category due to transfer/withdrawal/any other reason to be offered to the aspiring candidates of the same reserved category. If no reserved category candidates are available, then these seats shall be transferred and filled from the General Category based on the order of Rank.

7. Post declaration of the qualifying examination results, eligible candidates shall be given time to verify the documents and enroll for the programme by paying the balance fees.

8. The Seat Confirmation Fee is fully refundable in case of withdrawal of provisional admission within 60 days from the last date of admission.
