LEARN TO RACE On Lake Merritt
Have you always been curious about racing sailboats, but felt that you didn’t know the rules and strategies?
Join Jim Kearney, a long time boat owner with decades of racing and teaching experience on Lake Merritt and the San Francisco Bay, for an insider’s view into sailboat racing on Lake Merritt. You will learn what you need to know to join the Mid-Winter races on Lake Merritt.

Apply the Skills: The Lake Merritt Sailing Club is inviting all Learn To Race graduates to attend their mid-winter race series Free of Charge! You can rent boats from Lake Merritt Boating Center to use in the races or launch your own (Regatta Dates: Saturday December 10, Sunday January 15, Saturday February 11, and Sunday March 12)
Prior Sailing Experience Required: Sailors need to be able to sail a single-handed dinghy (El Toro or Sunfish) around a course. Sailors who have completed the Solo Small Boat Sailing Class or Youth Advanced Sailing Camp or above are encouraged to attend.
