Guided Writing Write a paragraph (5-7 sentences), or a series of paragraphs about the following topics. Please remember to Indent at the beginning of each paragraph, double space, and write all the way across the page.

Monday (May 04, 2020) --Personal Experience: Write about something you tasted today. Tuesday (May 05, 2020) --Correspondence: Write a letter to a friend. Wednesday (May 06, 2020) --Favorite Things: Write about your favorite holiday. Thursday (May 07, 2020) --Other Living Entities: Write about animals that fly. Friday (May 08, 2020) --Songs and Stories: Write a fairy tale.

Revise and Edit Structure -Does your mini-essay have a beginning, middle, and end? --Is the main idea clear? ---Is there a well-defined structure and a good flow of ideas? ----Is there strong supporting evidence and details? -----Are paragraphs evident and correct? ------Did you include dialog where necessary?

Sentences -Do you use varied sentences? --Do you use a mix of simple, compound, and complex sentences? ---Does your writing say what you intended? ----Do you use complete details and descriptions? -----Are there any obvious mistakes?

Revision -Did you use your five senses? --Did you use emotion? ---Did you use movement?

Vocabulary Sensory Words --List 5-senses words: hearing, taste, touch, sight, and smell. Use these generously in your writing. Add emotion or feeling words and movement or motion words Technical Words --List technical and jargon words and phrases specific to the topic of the assignment, report, essay, or story. Words --aqua, beige, black, , , cardinal, , dark, emerald, flesh, fuchsia, gold, , ivory, light, lime, , milky, navy, olive, orange, pearl, purple, , silver, teal, turquoise, white, wisteria, yellow. Loud Sounds --bang, blare, boom, clash, clip, crack, crash, deafening, echo, grate, jangle. Soft Sounds --buzz, chime, clink, gurgle. Vocal Sounds --chatter, chink, chuckle, cluck, coo, giggle, growl, guffaw. Taste Words --appetizing, bitter, briny, burnt, buttery, common, fishy, flat, flavorsome, fruity. Touch Words --brittle, bumpy, calloused, chilled, coarse, cold, dusty, fragile, flexible, frigid, furry, fuzzy, gritty, hard, hardened. Appearance Words --bent, bowed, chubby, circular, cluttered, crooked, curved, domed, dull, dumpy, flat, frazzled, fresh, gigantic, glistening, graceful, hard, humped. Color Words --aqua, azure, beige, black, blue, brass, bronze, brown, cardinal, creamy crimson, dark, dusky, emerald, fuchsia, gold, green, heather, ivory, jade. Movement Words --amble, crawl, creep, dart, dash, dive, drift, drive, flap, flick, flip, flop, gallop, hurl. *Look back at the writing that you did. Choose words that you like or that have a special meaning for you. Create a poster and color these words in the sense that they appeal to you.

**Choose as many words from the above lists as you like and answer the following prompts. Aim for a minimum of 1-paragraph for the first one, 2-paragraphs for the second one, 3- paragraphs for the third one, 4-paragraphs for the fourth one, etc. -What’s the most beautiful person, place, or thing you’ve ever seen? Share what makes that person, place or thing so special. --What real-life situations would work out better for you if you were a different gender? Why? ---Do Americans have it too easy? Why do you think that? ----Describe your ideal life 1-year from now. What is something you can do every day to achieve that goal?
